Would this be what you were reading JJ? Moffat's One Goal: <i>'For it not to be poo poo,’ he says succinctly. 'One wobbly wall, one pony-looking effect, one tiny thing goes wrong, and it’s back to the 1970s.’ Though there will be obvious differences – a new Doctor, for one – Moffat says that the team are not focused on changing the show from what’s gone before. 'The audience, whether they’re eight years old or 48, they’re not waiting to see why it’s different or strange or new, they’re just wanting it to be really good. It’s actually an incredibly easy challenge to make something different. It’s incredibly hard to make something good.’</i> HEY DON'T DISS THE 70S.

I'm sorry: half this Steven Moffat is bad stuff comes from Lawrence Miles and people are listening? Lawrence Miles, who may well have written one of the best of all the NAs and EDAs, but who clearly (I own all the volumes of About Time) feels that pretty much everything after Pertwee was not much good? He liked Eccles's performance as the Ninth Doctor, as I recall from reading his online reviews. But the last favourable thing I remember seeing from him was glowing praise for Love & Monsters, on the grounds that JNT was right and Doctor Who ought to be more like Morecambe and Wise. His reasoning seemed flawed to me, because as far as I know they never made a Morecambe and Wise show where Eric and Ernie show up for two minutes at the beginning, two minutes at the end, and don't appear at all in between.

I concur - I love the wobbly sets and bits that go wrong, it's such fun! Makes it more like watching a live play. Plus I survived growing up in the 70s, cheese makes me feel all happy inside.

Yeah, he better hadn't diss the 70s! In the context of the article, though, I think he was talking about the popular/press received wisdom about the original series, sort of what I was referring to above, rather than his own opinions of it. As I say, most of the interviews of his I've read, he sticks up for the classic programme fairly forcefully. Yes, Mr Miles is a good writer (IMHO), but has some...interesting ideas on Who and people connected to Who. They don't call him Mad Larry for nothing. I do find his blog highly amusing, though, even if I take 90% of his opinions with a pinch of salt and occasionally a shot of brainbleach to follow. I was mainly thinking, however, of the whole Moffat-sexism-gate thing from a while ago, which seemed to turn a lot of people off him. My personal view is that I can appreciate someone's art without agreeing with or liking their alleged personal opinions or politics. Confirmed, by the way: www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00rs6t7;D ;D ;D

www.youtube.com/watch?v=RsrgIUTtCC8&feature=player_embeddedOkay, okay, okay... SQUEE!FIT. The Who deprivation has obviously taken its toll. I just watched this for the interview BUT THEN THERE WAS A FIVE SECOND CLIP AT THE END. www.youtube.com/watch?v=NTcUjehUF_c (if you don't want to sit through a somewhat awkward interview) Eeee! It's nothing I hadn't already inferred from other spoilers, but that's not the point; the point is, taken in larger doses, Matty boy's voice doesn't annoy me. And he looks like the Doctor. *does the squee dance* I WANT EASTER NOW! "Not a box - it's a time machine"
lovelovelovelove his little turn and pose. I NEED A WHO FIX!
also,
Little!Amy wants to jump into a burning box of FIRE lol***

Well, ordinarily, I'd like to be cool and sort of conceal my squee in front of other people, but... ;D ;D ;D * Indeed - "it's not a box, it's a time machine", the way he says it and the little pose he does at the same time...very Doctorly, is all I'll say.
He sounds a bit less posh in that than he does in the like two lines of dialogue we've heard so far. Not sure whether I'm for/against posh Doctors, really, just an observation.
What's the betting that this "five minute hop" turns out to be a ten year hop or whatever - that again would be very Doctorly, I think.* Here's an alleged review of the first ep from the BBC website: SPOILERS! news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/8572786.stm SPOILERS! He doesn't actually come out and say whether he liked it or not, which is sort of missing the point of a review, if you ask me, but then again the Beeb probably doesn't want it's employees expressing opinions on something that surely has a lot of their money and prestige riding on it... All I will say though, is: * SPITFIRES DOGFIGHTING IN SPACE???!!!
Bring it on!
;D ;D ;D*

www.youtube.com/watch?v=79VqFHvuJXA&feature=player_embeddedTRAILER THREE!!!!!!!!!!!! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee * Though, I'm not going to lie, the sight of those zeppelins made my stomach drop about two feet. We're going back to the parallel universe? AKA the one where Rose and Handy are? Nooooooooooooooooooo!!!
MOFF MAN WHY ARE YOU PLUNDERING THE MOST WTF OF MY DREAMS FOR YOUR EPISODE PLOTS?!??!
That said, Matty boy has maybe won me over, for the time being anyway. AND DID YOU SEE THAT SPLIT-SECOND GLIMPSE INSIDE THE NEW TARDIS ?!?!?
not going to lie, the TARDIS is kind of the thing that has me most excited at this point.
Edit: EXCEPT I KEEP WATCHING IT AND FINDING MORE THINGS TO SQUEE OVER!
Space dogfight! Union Flag Dalek! ELEVEN RIDING A HORSE... like EXTENSIVELY riding in some kind of HORSE BASED CHASE SCENE. *fans self*
And the lines. I think. I love his line delivery in this trailer.
And the TARDIS. Because it all comes back to the TARDIS. AND THE FACT THAT THERE IS A GIANT STAIRCASE SOMEWHERE IN THERE! *geek squee flail**

I just saw the 3D trailer. I liked it. I liked the music and i hope who ever made that music is not murray and someone else. i hope that that someone else is going to do the music for the show.
however, i still think that matt is ugly.

*Worry not, Clocket - those aren't zeppelins, they're barrage balloons. They trail a long, heavy steel cable beneath them and incoming enemy bombers are supposed to fly into it, with hilarious consequences... I think they're just a sign that Eleven and Amy are back in The War, where the khaki, Union Jack-waving Daleks live. ;D
(actually, they seem awfully low down there, but I guess that's just to counter the fact that in the Whoniverse, as the Empty Child teaches us, the Luftwaffe were in the habit of flying their bombing raids at unrealistically low altitudes...I dunno why... ;D
There, I knew my unhealthy WW2 obsession would one day prove useful to my fellow DbyAers...
But still, looking good so far - Eleven on a horse! Spitfires IN SPAAACE! Stonehenge!
Cybermen, though? Why did it have to be Cybermen??!!
And I do like the way Eleven says that line, just prior to using that gun to shoot out some vital bit of machinery or something. Now he sounds posh to me again, though; I think it might be something to do with my ears or something...*

oh squee! I am so so so so so excited, I don't even hold JJ's (and lost Lost and Maggie? Maggie for sure) british-ness against them. Besides I have membership torrent site now, so here is hoping, eh? ** I am still thinking he's a nice Doctor (well less self-obsessed) and I am loooooving that! I have so missed the sense of fun in the Doctor and if you can remember Ten had that sense of fun at first then it left and he was ALWAYS one step away from weeping and it was good, but so sad, and REALLY mad me waffle on my NuWho stance, but it was so good I still watched and so I am super excited if they bring back that sense of fun and wonder.
Also, I am liking this more in power and in control thing he seems to have (one thing you don't put in trap:me, and no they're scared of me) which is win as well. There's a lot I worry about (all the hugging n snogging grr I'm not ready for a love fest again) and he doesn't seem to have the aura of The Doctor that so many have, but most of his shots thus far are super up close so I am hoping this is untrue.
Basically, I have more hope than I have had since before EoT and that pleases me, plus it starts next week and then is actually on again the following week can you believe it?**

Lostspook is a fellow Brit, I can confirm, but I don't think Maggadin (although she's in the same timezone) would really appreciate being called one... ;D
*Yeah, that's really what I'm thinking Merry - a Doctor who's fun, and full of joy and enthusiasm for what he does, and considerate of his companions - this seems to be the vibe I'm getting from Eleven so far as well, and I do hope it turns out to be true.
And ditto on the being in control thing...I can't help it, I just like it when the Doctor talks like he's an arrogant badass (because he is, really! ;D). Don't mess with this guy, however charmingly eccentric he might seem at first glance, that's the lesson all of these villains and monsters need to learn...*

I'm glad you don't hold my Britishness against me. That would be a bit tough, because the only thing I could claim is that I am also part Welsh and therefore over 1/4 of me hates the other 3/4 with a passion. Which explains a lot. (I'm sorry if that was also a very Brit-centric joke. If anyone is in Wales, it's absolutely true, so ) You know, I didn't want to be away this Easter Weekend, even I'm looking forward to seeing my family. And do the BBC help? No, they don't. They only schedule Ashes to Ashes AND Doctor Who for while I'm away. After all this endless wastes of erm... January, February and March with NOTHING TO WATCH. ;D

The BBC, among their many other evil deeds, are apparently engaged in a conspiracy against Americans, Canadians...and lostspook... Is there no end to their perfidy?

I LOVE the fact I am part of a message board where the word is perfidy is both used and understood. DbA > pretty much everywhere else. As many of you say, DbA FTW (did I do those correctly? lol).
