One thing I'm almost certain of, next series Amy will either return the diary to River, or be told by River to keep it (which would confirm the whole River is Amy thing). It feels kind of cheatish to me too. I was hoping to be wowed you know? But I can see it.
The thing is... if it is Amy, then the best man she ever knew probably is Rory and that will set the stage for all three characters exiting stage left and the next crop of companions coming in. Not a spoiler: I just realized today that this is going to be the first time in NuWho where we'll have two series in a row with the same Doctor, same companions. So exciting!

Sorry not really double posting as this one is so much later and regarding wholly different stuffs, yeah?
**Mark Gatiss has dropped some hints about his forthcoming episode of Doctor Whpo in an interview with Doctor Who Magazine. Gatiss confirms that his episode was called What Are Little Boys Made Of? (as we revealed) but says "It probably won't be now, because that's a little too long … We're toying with House Call at the moment, though that's not very scary, is it? I'd like to call it Night Terrors …" He reveals that the story focuses on a little boy called George "who is frightened of everything. He has a nervous cough and a nervous blink, and he's frightened of clowns, old toys, enclosed spaces, vans … and particularly of something being in the cupboard in his bedroom. And the Doctor turns up and tells him that he's right! I can't tell you anything more except that the monsters are the creepiest things ever."**

*So Moffat gets to work with kids again? Provided they don't get frightened of his Giant Head, that's excellent news, because he does it so well. How long, though, before this childhood fears, monster-in-the-cupboard stuff gets old? Not just yet, I hope, but you know, it's a thought. I think Night Terrors is a well better title than House Call, though.
Regarding some stuff I missed further up the thread:
I don't know what's wrong with me, but I don't find the notion of pirates as inherently kewl as a lot of people seem to, but on the other hand Everything Is Better With Swordfights. It's a scientific fact! ;D
Regarding the whole deal with River/ominous sense of impending doom I'm getting about S6, I think River aside, only two corners of the Eleven-Amy-Rory triad are coming out of S6 alive. That's my tentative prediction at this point anyway. No, I wouldn't like to guess as to which one might die, but I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it was Eleven himself. As much as I love the boy Smith in the role, I could see it happening. Or would the tabloids have spoiled us for it already if it was the case? Don't know...*

You know, all I heard was "swordfight" Okay... no, I heard more. Terrifying monsters! Yay! And I agree about the ominous doom hanging over the current team TARDIS, though if it's the Doctor they've been keeping a really good hold on the reporters. At least, I'm hoping anyways... if Matt goes now, I fear for the show.

* I don't know, I think the show is probably more resilient than it looks - I mean, what else apart from soaps and reality shows do the BBC have going for them? And I don't know if I put much faith in the stories of declining ratings and missing out on awards and so forth - I think some of the people going on about that stuff on other forums and places like Livejournal kind of want that interpretation to be true, for whatever mysterious reasons of their own...
But yes, the thing that really makes me doubt the Eleven-dies scenario is the fact that surely the press would have it by now? I mean, how far in advance was Tennant's departure in the news? I honestly don't see them being able to keep a lid on that sort of thing for months and months. And I don't count all the "Smith is going" rumours that have been circulating since before S5 even started - they're obviously just paper talk.*

** to be fair, Tennant announced his on live television, sort of hard to keep secret after that, yeah? It'd be a helluva coup for the BBC, I think, to manage to keep something like that secret, they'd pratically have to go skeleton crew in studio the entire time...I have the same sneaking suspicion though that it IS eleven, even though I don't see how, but then, if we assume this thing isn't really eleven per say (as we discussed) and eleven is held hostage somewhere, I suppose fake!eleven could be killed and real eleven could just stay on...**

*That's a good thought - but it might come across as a bit of a copout, mightn't it - Eleven's dead! No he's not! ;D It all depends on how they might do it though. It could work done correctly. But yes, the more I think about this, killing off companions for cheap thrills doesn't really seem to be Moffat's style to me - killing Eleven, however, would certainly have impact.
I absolutely agree that a secret regeneration that came as a shock would be amazing, and it's something I fervently hope for one of these days. How feasible it would be in light of the media interest though... As you say, it would require a lot of planning and a lot of loyalty from cast and crew - and a lot of luck...*

** a cop out? well I don't think Moffat has shied from them much, has he? I mean the Big Bang was one GIANT cop out right down to how the characters survived**

*It's certainly an argument. ;D What I meant was, killing a duplicate Eleven (even if he's the Eleven we've been watching all along) and then replacing him with the otherwise-indistinguishable "real" Eleven might not have the impact of Eleven shuffling off "for real" and Unexpected!Twelve suddenly appearing. Having said that, the last "proper" regeneration we had didn't go off so well, did it? ;D So it really all depends on how it was done, I suppose.*

* Unless that companion happens to be Rory...
Much as I love Rory, I'm actually kind of hoping he dies and gets brought back again, and maybe again (and possibly again), before getting fed up with dying all of the time and leaving. Mostly because the whole you-can't-kill-Rory!!! (permanently) thing amuses me greatly.
If they managed to kill of Eleven sans media circus I would be very VERY impressed, but also sad because I quite like Eleven and want him to have some more time as the Doctor... I heard something about clones this series though so it wouldn't surprise me if they did something with a dead Eleven clone.
And... randomly... but wasn't Caves of Androzani an intentionally unexpected regeneration? I mean, fans *knew* the regen was coming, obviously, but the episode wasn't the last of the series so that probably caught people off guard a bit.
I'm not sure if I approve of that level of sneakiness though... well... not if it leads to The Twin Dilemma anyway...

*Permanently dead, Clocket. ;D Permanently... Where Who's concerned, though, it's probably just as well to specify that I suppose...
Hasn't Rory suffered enough?! I guess it suits him, though. He seems made for it.
If they killed off Eleven or any other Doctor for that matter out of the blue, I would indeed take my hat off to them. Mind you, I was one of those naive saps who dared to believe RTD had done exactly that at the end of The Stolen Earth - my disillusionment, it was crushing... ;D It would though, as I keep repetitively stating, be a very, very, very hard thing to pull off.*

I've just read that the Clerics from Flesh & Stone and The Time of Angels will be back for series 6. This makes me glad for I quite liked the Clerics. I especially liked Father Octavian (him and Nasreen would be my favourite one-offs of series 5... actually they would be two of my favourite one-offs period. Series 5 had some very nice one-off characters indeed), though, I'm hoping that Moffat doesn't timey-wimey us earlier into Father Octavian's life because he'd never met the Doctor before.
At least, I'm pretty sure he hadn't. I think it was explicitly stated too.
Oh well, still happy about this. Just so long as they don't get turned into Evil Religious Fanatics (tm), in which case I will be most upset.
I have a feeling they're going to have some sort of bearing on the River plotline. Theories?*

** Is that confirmed? I knew we a symbol similar to the one worn by the clerics but it's also similar to Omega...hmm what if the clerics are worshipers of Omega? Just a thought. But I wasn't aware the clerics were confirmed, that makes me happy too! I LOVED Father Octavius, it takes a brave and faithful man not to flinch before the wrath of the Doctor.**

*Evil TARDIS!! Clone Doctor??!?!!! Sounds like you were right all along, Merry, to some extent in any case. Every new spoiler about the upcoming series seems to be more intriguing, not to mention a bit confusing, but hopefully it will all come together in some manner.
That mid-season gap is going to be a killer, though!*

also this just in James Corden is absolutely confirmed and announced. Yay! I really did enjoy that episode and espcially Craig.
quick thought below!
** as you all know, in that episode Craig got a glimpse of the inside of the Doctor's head...is he like a psychic storage shed? or perhaps more like a Doctor Detector, or mebbe he's just breaking the fake ship again lolz**

*I think it could turn out to be any and all of those things, but I wouldn't mind betting that the article is right in thinking that he comes to play a part in restoring the Doctor's memory if the Doctor comes to need his memory restored.*

oooooh ooooooh oh my io9.com/#!5774583/is-there-a-major-spoiler-in-these-doctor-who-set-photos/gallery/1 ** now the daily mail are trying to make these pictures look as if Amy n the Doc are cheating on Rory (tis even how they worded it which was odd...The Doctor's cheating on Rory, well he DID call him gorgeous) but looks more like a goodbye to me, especially considering the image that DOES include Rory with the champagne n such. I really want a companion to be aloowed to stick about this no more than two series thing sucks swampwater**

Crazy crack theory I came up with at this very moment. THE SILENCE WILL FALL shouting, talking, thing that came from the tardis..... maybe it came from the alien in the lodger. I mean if you listen, the two do sound the same-ish.
