I love Jo, but she's just become even more amazing. Apparently she started the tradition of the Doctor taking his companion's hand while running. The reason? She was so short-sighted that they couldn't trust her not to run into things if she wasn't guided along.

xD That's rather sad. And she couldn't wear glasses? (Did any companions wear glasses, come to think of it?)

I'm pretty sure you see her with glasses once or twice, but I think the deal was that when she started with the role she wore contacts but then those irritated her eyes so much she had to do away with them. And, apparently, even with the visual aid she still couldn't see that well.
The thing I read said that she couldn't see Pertwee's face when he stood up because hr vision was so bad and he was so tall, and she as so small... I totally did not realise this. But Katy Manning is only 5 ft.
More reasons for her to be cool. And she voices Iris Wildthyme in the audios now.
However... there are also reasons to be very afraid. 70s porn Colin has nothing on her. And I feel the pressing need to eye ball scratch right now.

I'll rummage around and see if I can come with the picture. It's not actually that dirty. It's just shirtless Colin with black hair, a very funny mustache, and a skeevy look in his eye.
And rather hairy.
And it's not really porn. I dunno why it's called that. It's pretty lulz-y actually.

It's called '70s Porn Colin 'cos he looks like a porn star. Or something. I wouldn't know. xD
I think Wikipedia actually has a bit about it in the Sixth Doctor entry or somewhere.

Good heavens, I need a dose of that BrainBleach after reading this thread too... *whacks at phantoms of Colin with a broom*
Now back to the original and amazing Jo!
I thought Katy being so myopic gave Jo some of her lovely soft-focused wide-eyed looks, and it contributes to lots of Three/Jo cuddling, so I'm in favor of it. ;-) I remember seeing an interview she and Jon were both in in which they recounted a day where they'd been singing an aria about brussel-sprouts together while waiting in Bessie for things to be set up, then he got snippy at her about her holding a map wrong and she blew a fuse and grabbed any and everything she could reach to throw it all at him! She laughed about what it must have looked like to the folks around them when suddenly hairbrushes and things came shooting out from under their umbrella and he laughed because even though he was sitting right next to her she completely missed him! ("I told you she was blind!") Totally win.
Jo remains waaaay up at the top of best companions ever, in my book - she was competent, loyal, brave, sweet, smart... and they were just so darn cute together.

Jo is definately one of my favorite companions. She's just like Prim said: cometent, loyal, brave, sweet, and smart. It's so cute how Three would always whisk her away whenever anyone was sweet on her.

Most of my "dislike" of three is really just my tendency to support the underdog, although he does strike me as the most mundane of the Doctors (gotta drive me car gotta fix my machine, gotta look physically appealing, gotta assert "alpha male" status, gotta get the girl). In spite of all that I adore Jo ( as I believe I have mentioned a few places on this board).

Ha! You support me at least in that Three is good looking (my room mates just give me funny looks when I mention this).
Three is a bit mundane in some ways, yes, but then he has to deal with a broken TARDIS. I find him charming because there are all these subtle emotional undercurrents during his era. 'Course, I might just be reading into things too much.

Whoa, Settle down there, Sparky! I didn't say his features were all come hither, well, I may have accidentally implied this, huh? I only meant he insisted on trying make himself as appealing as possible, now he certainly isn't the ugliest Doctor, not by a longshot, but neither is he the best looking, however he is DEFINITELY among the best-dressed. You know, it may be fun to set up superlatives for all of them, best-dressed, best looking, most likely to get lost, and so forth. Back on topic, I do love Jo she is honest, brave forth-wright, no wait, that's the boy-scouts.
