The real Doctor. lol.

XD *looks again* Each time I go to your link I get a different part of Cardiff. You need to give details. Where abouts is it. Where is this person and where are they standing.

I really think 11 in terms of personality is gonna be neurotic and not as emotional as 10. The reason I say that is because, if you look at all the series, the Doctor's personalities run in a certain kind of cycle. For example, 1 was a crusty old arrogant man who often didn't let his companions have the upper hand; then 2 was more mellow (sometimes), three was the "James Bondian, take charge type", and four was a little more Bohemian, five was more mellow, like two; then, six was more acidic like 1...so, with the 10th doctor being more congenial to his companions than nine was, I think 11 is going to be VERY closed off. Just my opinion.

Welcome, Mat!
I suppose that partly depends on whether the writers have thought that through as thoroughly - and I see a lot of influence from the core 'type' of actor they have - Hartnell was a bit of a control freak, Pertwee was into action and gadgets, Tom Baker was (and is) a bit quirky bohemian, Davison was by far Mr. Mellow over Action Man in his acting history and personality as well - so the question is what sort of personality and style has Mr. Smith shown so far? It may point the way a bit.

Welcome aboard Mat! I think Prim makes a good point regarding the actors - it's only natural for them to put a lot of themselves into the part, especially if it's one they're going to be playing long term. At the same time, I think a more introverted, less friendly Doctor might make a nice change of pace from Ten; we don't want all of our Doctors to be the same, surely? What worries me is that the new production team won't want to tinker with what seems at the moment to be a winning formula for NuWho, and therefore might not adopt the sort of "new broom" attitude that some sections of fandom are hoping for in Moffat and Eleven, even as others are panicking at the very idea. I think at this stage Eleven, and indeed Moffat, are all things to all people - every one of the many different parts of fandom are hoping that their vision will be the way of the future, but we won't know until Season 5 starts who was right, if indeed anybody was...

Personally, I think that Ten was closed off. He reminds me of a cross between Four and Seven, swaying between lovable bohemian and scheming sociopath. With that template in mind, I predict that Eleven will be a cross between Five and Eight; a dapper, subdued, amnesiac with a tenancy to randomly kiss people.
(hey, from what we've seen of Moffat so far, you KNOW he's still going to be kissing people)

But Clocket, do remember that er... audio that we listen to.
Though you do make a good point.

I take the kissing as an inevitable part of NuWho these days, and I'm okay with it now. NuWho without kissing would be like old Who without corridors or something... ;D
I reckon you're right about Ten, Clocket - he's outwardly very extroverted and lively and manic, as you say a bit like Four, but where that was the real Four, more or less, in Ten's case it's all a front, a shield to protect the real him. And when you see the real him, from time to time, it is by turns a bit unsettling and a bit annoying, but there you go...
So yes, a quieter, vulnerable nice-guy Doctor in the Fivey mould would also be a nice change of pace for the Moffat era, or whatever we're calling it. Especially if he had those little outbursts of crankiness Five sometimes had. Thing is, it'd take a light touch; Five, when he had his little moments when the universe was too hard for him, you kind of felt for him, but it could so easily turn into Ten!angst redux if it wasn't done just right.
I'm personally hoping that Eleven will turn out to be the new Two - this seemingly-harmless eccentric, who doesn't really know what he's doing...except when it suddenly turns out that he _does_ and you just got completely pwned Mr Baddie... The Lt Columbo of Doctors, if you will. That'd be great.

Personally, I think that Ten was closed off. He reminds me of a cross between Four and Seven, It's funny that you mention Four, because I always thought Ten and Four were alike. Witty, but really seeming to do that to cover their feelings a good part of the time. Anyway, I'd love it if Eleven turned out to be like Two. I loved that little space hobo!

Sorry Newton - I didn't consider that to be a spoiler, but I realise some people are sensitive about these things, so thanks for exercising your modly powers with wisdom and with mercy. ;D Just nice to see a photo of Eleven that wasn't taken from the other side of the street by someone hiding behind a fence while he's waiting to do the next take or something... Speaking of which - SPOILERS!!: www.youtube.com/watch?v=2XSJH1mTSmg* Okay, why is the TARDIS door on fire?
That's got to be Vincent van Gogh - he looks like his picture and everything (and when he still had both his ears)!
Love the way Eleven turns around, that little skid he does on the ice (and Cardiff is looking much like Liverpool this week, it would seem - cold - not that this will impress our Canadian/US contingent, I suspect. ;D)
And won't someone please get that poor girl a pair of jeans? She must be freezing...* About Ten using his bluster and eccentricities to hide his feelings - I think that's very true. I always thought that Four, though, was pretty much as he chose to present himself - he really was that eccentric and frivolous and slightly spaced out, but wonderful for it. And yes, he did have his sombre moods and his serious, angry moods and his reminscent moods, but he was a man of moods; I don't think there was much front to him, is what I'm trying to say, which is more than you can say for some of the other Doctors.

Maybe that TARDIS is a fake? To trick a bad guy? Don't know, but it being on fire and the Doctor just walking away seems very curious to me.
