ack! I am on a roll, today, or rather was yesterday it would seem. Clocket, goodness knows, I tend to assume none of us here at DbA intend harm or insult, so really I was more standing up for the millions of whovian-challenged hippies who have no idea they are being lumped into the same fashion category as that bloke. Please don't think I was actually insulted.
whitedness follows *WAIT!! JJ, I thought we wanted him to be different from DT, now you want him to recreate that sort of dumb-founded, bewildered and captivated expression?!?! No, I know you don't want a 10 redux, none of us do, I warrant. It just seems so oddly like a fickle-whovian to say "Be different and be like the last Doctor" and I reckon that's really the crux of the role isn't it? Be a very different same man. Goodness, what a divine (and intimidating) challenge for an actor.*

*No, Merry, I was only jesting about the astonishing Tennant fascinated/appalled/determined expression in every single promotional picture I've ever seen him in; it's just something I find hilarious for some reason. I hope Eleven, whatever he is, is his own man; I'd rather he did something radical and p---off a load of fans than be a fence-sitter as that first interview seemed to suggest. The last thing I want is Ten redux, as much as I generally don't mind Ten apart from the angsting; maybe I underestimate Moffat and co in thinking that I haven't seen anything yet to suggest such a clean break with the current era. Still, until he actually has his first story and absolutely appalls me, I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and even go around making optimistic noises about him.
I maintain, however, that that IS THE hat!*

wow, the resemblance is creepy! Do we perhaps, have poor Gollum's origins all wrong? Mayhap there was a Master involved, as Gollum bears a strong resemblance to weird ancient troll Doctor kept as a pet by Simm's Master.

**I found a clip of Matt Smith on Secret Diary of a Call Girl. He sleeps with Rose Tyler. He plays a not so bright character.

Psst - the URL hyperlink has his name on it. Might want to change that. But that is seriously more than a little unnerving.

I'm trying to figure out how to put it behind a cut with not so much luck. I really do stink at technology sometimes... In any case, by this point, I think we ALL know his name. I mean, you'd have to be living under a rock! But picture should probably still stay under cuts, and discussion of other spoillery things.

If you want to change it, it would be something like this:

You're welcome! And he really does, doesn't he? I found it here, which is pretty much a smorgasbord of delicious icons. Do you know if the spoiler moratorium is going to get lifted at some point? Or are we just waiting until the episode airs?

For a long time, I've been holding off looking at these spoilers and the rest on the site for sometime. Mostly this is due to me wanting to just avoid the coming changes and surprises, but also I really dislike all the hate and negative comments fans go out of their way spewing (not that I'm pointing fingers at anyone in particularly on this fine forum ). However, a few days ago I finally found the resolve to watch the 11th Doctor special (crying quite a bit through it) and found that I'm less afraid of the coming change. Not my first experience change, since my first Doctor was PD. And I wanted to see what others think of him. So here I am commenting on a few points brought up this far in the discussion. One, I agree on the fact that I don't like his hair, even in the interview. It does need to be change or at least styled differently. It's too much like DT's hair for one and I think its overshadows the actor quite a bit.
Two, while I'm not repelled on the idea of 11 wearing Victorian/Edwardian clothes, I think that might make him look too much like PM's Doctor. I'm not crazy about repeating, particularly since PM was very much repeating Hartnell's style. But if it can be done well and he isn't just a repeat of 8, then I might accept it.
Three, I too fear his young age, but from the acting examples they showed in the special, he does seem to have range (of course, I can see a bit too close similarities to DT), so I hope the actor tries to make the character more his own.
Four, I agree that I hope he doesn't just become another love-sick puppy Doctor. Not saying I didn't find time to time enjoy watching the Rose/Doctor relationship, but if he expects Rose to move on, then its time (especially with a regeneration) for the Doctor to move on. Not saying he can't remember fondly, but time to take back the fun-loving adventure/hero of the universe.
Well, that's my thoughts so far. For now, I'm sitting on the fence, waiting patiently to see what lies ahead. I like Moffet's writing in DW and in Coupling, so I'm hopeful there (don't really know anything about this suppose sexism you all mention), and I'm more than willing now to take Mr. Matt Smith at the new Doctow when he comes. I wish him the best luck!

****In DWM there is a picture of the actor with short hair. He looks like Prince Harry with a hint of Gordon Ramsey. I would be cool with that.
