I just heard there's an Eleven. When will there be a sub-board for him (presumably a "him")? A friend has s4 so I'll see who it is eventually. It might be funny for us to try to come up with things to say about him, when all we have is a regeneration scene, I think...

I think I know some information about 11. I wondered in a Doctor Who post on livejounral thinking it would spoiler free, (the artical was about this guy talking about what it would be if he was cast as the doctor) WRONG. I regret it dearly.

I remain happily spoiler-free regarding the identity of Eleven. It makes me happy. Normally I can't avoid spoilers to save my life, but the identity of the next Doctor...this is huge. So I've been avoiding anything even speculating about it.

erm guys, you probably want to spoiler warning this before somebody yells at you *nods* I accidentally spoiled somebody and felt dead awful about it *nods vigorously* though I do think a speculation thread would be fun!

I'm very happy to be spoiler free on Eleven. Ideally, I'd be spoiler free on the fact that there will be an Eleven at all. (Ideally, there'd be no Eleven and Ten would be having a full season)
Alas.
Anyway, I've heard some rumours, but nothing solid, and I don't know what any of the names people keep discussing actually look/act like so. Meh. Though I did hear an amusing rumour that the THIS IS SPARTA guy will be the next Doctor. I post this only because I'm rather certain it was one of *those* type rumours, you know, the ones where people name off Hugh Laurie and Paul McGann even though we all know it isn't going to happen.

Paul McGann? For Eleven? That'd be kind of...interesting.

Paul McGann? For Eleven? That'd be kind of...interesting. I think so. which brings up the question [JE SPOILERS HIGHLIGHT TO READ]: after the sort of regeneration at the beginning of JE, is Tennant still Ten or is he now Eleven also? Does this make the next Doctor number Twelve??? Inquiring minds want to know!

There are those of us who don't even regard Ten as being the Tenth... after all, he would not only be the 'ninth' regeneration (One was not a regeneration, he was original and hence actually Zero), Two-to-Three wasn't a normal regeneration at all, it was a forced change by the Time Lords and hence shouldn't really count. This puts the counter back to Tennant 'really' being Eight. ;-)
So now that that's all muddled-up...
I've seen more than one actor being touted as THE next Doctor, I'll just wait to find out... though I'm still quietly rooting for Sean Pertwee myself, that would be such fun.

Sorry about spoilering the existence of Eleven. I thought I was so behind everyone else that anything I say could not possibly be a spoiler. As I thought I understood it, the regeneration was broadcast some time ago, at the end of s4, and I thought everyone but me knew the identity of the new actor. I did skip the one spoiler here. If no actor was shown, maybe it was a fake-out regeneration...
primrose... I believe that the numbers (One through Eleven) refer to the number of the Doctor, not the number of his regeneration. What's confusing sometimes is the tendency of people to refer to a Doctor as a "regeneration". A regeneration is really an event happening between Doctors. Hartnell of course wasn't a "regeneration" and therefore "regeneration #0", you could say. He is the first Doctor, though; he came first, it's just that simple.
So Eleven is Eleven, if he ever happens. Eleven would have resulted from the tenth regeneration. I think a regeneration we don't see still is one, even if it was forced to happen by the Time Lords. Look, Three's different than Two, therefore, regenerated. Of course it's a noble and worthwhile fan tradition to debate these things! And if you're Donna Noble, it's noble just to argue! (That's her last name, right?)

Rest assured you didn't spoil us all on the existance of Eleven Magnus. DT himself did that when he made his little public service annoucement. head!desk.
I wish he (and everyone involved in publicising it EVERYWHERE) could have just kept that secret and let us all be surprised.

*Well, Eleven has been cast and I must say I'm not pleased. He's 26 and just doesn't look like the Doctor.

I say we give him a chance!
* after all how right did any of the NEXT Doctors ever seem compared to their predecessor? I just worry about all this the Doctor needs to take himself more seriously stuff you see floating everywhere! NO NO HE DOES NOT!!! We need some Douglas Adams inspired hilarity, that's what we need!*

Scarves! Jelly babies! Odd adventures in Paris!!
actually, I'd be really chuffed if one of 11's adventures (or Ten's last) could be (yet another) remake of Shada. The Time Lord prison planet... whoot! Though, the plot would have to be modified a bit, what with everyone dead and all.
hmmm...
on that note, I also want Zagreus made into a real episode; would be easily modified into the best Return of the Time Lords episode ever? Wot wot?
yes... this whole post really belongs in the forward in time section, but I'm being nitty-picky.
To end off. (and this isn't actually a spoiler: I HAVEN'T looked at the pictures of 11 yet, but I hope he has blue eyes. Just for old times sake. Of course, I wish more fervently that he can act but... it's the little thing you know?

Oh F**... foot. Oh foot. *yanks at hair* I just saw a picture by mistake. It was inevitable, but AHHH! *annoyed* * AHHHH!!! He IS a frakking emo! AHHH!! Emo alert! Emo alert!
*head!deaks repeatedly*
AHHH!!! for pity's sake, he look yonger than I do. He looks like a flipping highschool emo (no offense to anyone in highschool who follows that particular fashion trend. I did myself for a brief time, but.... he looks like Edward Cullens for crying out loud! Please tell me DW is not turning into Twilight V.2.0, PLEASE?) NOoooooOOoo!!
Okay, okay, reign it all in Clocket. I reserve judgement until I see the man act. He miht be quite good. Fivey after all was quite very good. I reserve...
he had better get himself a different haircut or I will cry.*mutters darkly*

*I admit, I'm not to keen on there being a Doctor that's younger than me by four years. I would have preferred some mid thirties at least. And yeah. He needs a different haircut. As for being emo, Ten was bad enough. We don't want any future companions being carried out of the TARDIS on an enormous wave of angst, now, do we?*

* Once Tom Baker was the youngest ever Doctor as was Peter Davison. I'm refusing to let age be an issue, after all, I don't think even the Doctor has a clue how old he is, lol. The young does niggle, I guess, but it's exciting, what will he be like now? A return to innocence ala fivey<3 or perhaps some early Ten shall return (remember when Ten was happy and strangely orally fixated before he became ANGSTMAN) I'm afraid now that we will FOR SURE have the scary dark doctor that I first worried would come in the Moffat at the head thread. As Moffat does so love to hurt the Doctor and as it is physical incongruity one that makes character building fairly easy (he's so young, no he's really not young he's angry and dark and he is MOFFATDOC) it seems this will be the most likely direction for them to had *sigh* the Doctor doesn't need any more darned darkness he needs Douglas Adams, failing that (as he is a bit erm decomposed)(as opposed to indisposed crude but funny) NEIL GAIMAN SAVE THE DOCTOR!!!!!!!!!*

*Yeah, the lad needs to sort the haircut out; other than that I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt until he turns out to be TRULY AWFUL. No, just kidding; I'm sure he'll be fine. I'm sort of in the camp that would have liked an older Doctor, but a young one would be interesting too; it's a different dynamic, isn't it? I just hope we end up with a real change of pace, one way or another, not just Ten Lite.
In many ways, an innocent, Five-like doctor might well be the most interesting way to take it. Or, alternatively, a scheming Doctor, a la Seven (or Two, in his darker moments); after all, shouting about Nevil! aside, Seven didn't really have what you'd call angst. When he decided on a course of action he took it, ruthlessly, and lived with the consequences afterwards.
Of course, I'm not in any way opposed to Mona Lisas, running through Paris etc. And Moffat's background is in comedy... In fact, without wanting to spoil anyone as regards the face of Eleven, one of my first thoughts as I saw him was the same thing Four and Romana had to say about the Mona Lisa - no eyebrows!
Actually, I found the lad himself quite engaging in the little interview he did, full of enthusiasm and a little bit of Doctorish eccentricity about him too; he'll be fine, I keep telling myself. Over and over again.
The Confidential special was actually very nice - did me a lot of good to see RTD, Tennant and Moffat giving a bit of love to the oldschool Doctors; Tennant in particular was very interesting, clearly a fan, and a pretty knowledgeable and opinionated one at that; I could have listened to him talking for far longer about oldschool Who and his favourite aspects of it. And they even had a clip of my favourite line from City of Death; "My dear, nobody could be as stupid as he seems".*

Now I've seen the last 3 of s4, and that "regeneration" wasn't what I thought it was. I still haven't seen middle ep's in s3 and s4.
The identity of the next Doctor is always made fully public long before we see the regeneration. His face is going to be all over magazine covers anytime now. Before Davison's final season had been broadcast, the Five Doctors special magazine was out, and showed Colin's face on the cover as the next Doctor, along with the others.
Might someone please PM me with the actor's name? I need to check the guy out and probably stew in my own juices over how wrong he seems, for awhile. Who picked him, RTD or Moffatt?
I don't get what "Emo" is supposed to be. All good music is emotional, and I get the impression that they think they invented that.
