I'm such a sucker for spoilers, it seems; someone posts one and it draws me in. Anyways, I'm liking the title; last summer I remember hearing all this speculation about it being called "Ghosts in the Machine" or something, which seemed like a really lame title to me.

I never let spoilers bug me.
I am very exited!!!! I do let suspense bug me though. It's going to be fun.

Oh yay for Master and Donna, I have a few theories on GOOD ways for Donna to come back (read GOOD as no dimensional cannons that the bleeding Doctor couldn't make but a bunch of torchwood exes can) I thought there was a Christmas special this year? Oh, don't say no, I'll cry myself to sleep for well over a year. Is there a place here where we can chat about theories, as I have a few, mostly regarding Donna and the mess that happened in Journey's End (the regeneration kinda)

Pretty much anywhere in the TARDIS section. Just find the place labeled with the person you want to chat about. (Or start your own thread in the appropriate section.) A rule, though. Make sure to label something as a spoiler if such are contained, mmmkay? And yes, there IS in fact a Christmas special, so chillax.

Hmmm, this is rather intriguing, though, I can't help but think...
"I loathe bus stations, terrible places, full of lost luggage and lost souls."
granted, the above isn't really a spoiler, unless you count vaguely appropriate Classic quotes as spoilers lol.

Ah, guest stars...I knew you wouldn't let us down, RTD...
Actually, these two are both alright, I think; at least it's not Paul O'Grady and Sharon Osborne.

The guest star I actually find more interesting, at least * until we hear about this "mysterious past" * is the one buried in the article: Noma Dumezweni reprising her role from Turn Left. Why would they get her back? Could be just a throwaway thing, though.

hmm
*I know I just assumed she was sort of random U.N.I.T. team leader, though seeing her listed, of course, makes me hope, hope, hope. I imagine that's about the reaction they were aiming for though, and I refuse to get all excited, as discussed elsewhere RTD and Moffat like nothing more than to kick the Doctor, so I see why n reason to expect any less of them in their final hurrah as a team, also in ten's final hurrah as a Doctor, come to think. yikes.

. I now have ths terrible, terrible vision of Rose and Handy coming back somehow.... *shudder*. NNaarrgghh! No-oooo!!! Surely not!!!! Er, that is to say: * As Merry says, she may be just a random UIT (yeah, that's right - UIT, not UNIT!!!)character, just like that fella who gets killed by the Sontarans randomly turns up in Turn Left. If they were going to have any returning UIT characters, I'd like it to be Colonel Mace from the Sontaran two-parter - git that he was, he was probably the most, well, UNITy of the bunch of them. However, using this character does seem at least to imply the return of Donna and/or Rose - I wouldn't mind the first, the second I would find pointless and kind of rubbish. Of course, probably neither will happen.
I am intrigued by the title, considering that the scarce details we have seem to imply that the story is set on Earth. And, yes, what is that "mysterious past" of which they speak? Don't want to jump to conclusions, but the character is a "lady" - could that be as in "time lady" - ie. Clocket was sorta right, but it wasn't Donna??*

I would love it/be terrified if she was Romana, and I'm usually the first person to jump to those sort of conclusions, but I honestly doubt it in this case. Nor do I think she's the Rani. I'm quite curious about who she is, but I suspect it's specific to the episode, or better yet, it ties into Ten's final episodes. I wonder if they'll do a story arc this year, like they usually do? I'm strangely fond of them.
Here's a novel idea, if they want to bring back a UNIT (well, that's technically still the acronym even if it doesn't make much sense now) character, how about, oh...Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart?
But it seems quite likely that UNIT just features in it, possibly briefly, and RTD liked working with her and figured might as well bring her back rather than someone new. io9 has some pictures up from filming. Nothing greatly of interest, as far as I can see, which means nothing too spoilery.

Upon seeing those pictures I must reiterate my previous Seven quote. Hmmm, looks like this might be a Midnight-type episode with all of the action in one place? I'm intrigued. Also, horsies! Yeah! They're not letting the baddy slip... I've actually got a weird feeling that maybe there will be no baddy and it will be just a drive around talking type episode. But that would be a bit rubbish wouldn't it? ...though I did like the talky-talk in Boomtown, so, meh.
I hope that woman isn't Romana. It's unfair of me to say this having never seen her act, but I'm also hoping she ISn'T going to be 11's companion (as is sort of being implied by everything I read) because, um, well... LEATHER PANTS? no!
At the same time, I do hope there is a common companion for all of the specials. Much as I love the Doctor wandering about on his lonesome (and the last Christmas Special was good) I think Ten spends entirely too much time on his own.
It isn't natural. lol.
actually, on second glance they aren't leather pants she's wearing, but appear to be some sort of tight fitting legwarmer combined with high leather boots and... well... interesting fashion choices. Oh! Oh! Here's a thought (which both excites and frightens and is so completely and utterly impossible that... well) what if she's Ace? That would be a deep a mysterious (and impossible bit of somehow explaining the different actress... but didn't Ace become a Time Lady i some spin-off thing???) yay for impossible fannish theories!
for crying out loud, the RANI is more probable than that. lol.
I really, really, REALLY hope she's not the Rani. *

** Hmmm, I could go a very long time indeed without seeing another Rani story, including the two that already exist (even though one has Seven in it!)
I think a talky little episode is a great change of pace once a season (and Midnight was, for me, the best episode of Season 4), but I expect RTD will spare no expense to make his last precious few stories as "spectacular" as possible.
ACE?? Now, that's just crazy-talk, Clocket! ;D As is, to be fair, my speculation on time ladies and Donna/Rose/UIT tag team action. I hope it is, anyway...
IMForeman is absolutely correct, of course; what really would make the specials special would be a guest shot from the Brig in one of them. I thought he was marvellous in the SJA story he was in - showed those UIT bounders where to get off. Or some multi-Doctor action - I thought Davison was great in Time Crash and McGann is great in just about everything he's in. And McCoy and the Fabulous Baker Boys have still got it, even if they aren't quite as well-preserved physically these days. Who is, though?
Make it so, RTD.** Oh, and on the same site as the pics, this amused me; io9.com/5135959/science-fiction-stories-that-make-gandhi-cry?skyline=true&s=iThey're right; it is a worryingly common trope in SF (and not just SF); at least Who steers clear of it most of the time. Their analysis of the original Daleks story did make me LOL though.

I love the fact that that article mentions the Hork-Bajirs Chronicles, oh how I once loved those books.
Also, the cartoon of Ian = LOL
and I agree: bring back the brig!!

I've actually heard something rather interesting concerning the plot: the bus gets transported to another planet. If you've heard about the controversial filming in Dubai, that's what it's for. I really hope so, I always welcome somewhere other than Earth.

* I've heard nothing, but it all sounds a bit exciting. I can't imagine RTD would do a Midnight-type episode so soon after having done Midnight. I reiterate that it ought to have whimsy and humor, especially when evoking "City of Death", which they do, however intentionally, with a name like Planet of Death.uk.news.yahoo.com/35/20090120/ttv-doctor-who-s-dubai-scenes-7f3be95.htmlthat's a link to an article regarding the Dubai scenes, it may be spoilery, does have 11th Doc's name.
