So, what are your thoughts? 4 specials, including the Christmas Specials for 2008 AND 2009, all written by Rusty.
Hmmm....
The most disturbing thing I've heard though is that apparently there is no set in stone information on whether or not DT's contract will extend to the 2010 season.
Which begs the question; if he ISn't going to be around during season 5 take-2, then why are they doing this lame-o season 5 take-1??
Anyway, hopefully that depressing thought is unfounded and out of nowhere. Anyway, theories on the specials? What are you hoping to see?
My hopes are pinned on the Brig turning up at some point and maybe *crosses fingers* McGann? T'would be awesome.

Actually, I heard Rusty is only writing two. And like supervising or something on the others (meaning he can make any changes he wants). But I'm not sure.
Oh, you just gave me an idea for a post.
I'm not getting my hopes up for anything. I just plan on enjoying SJA when it comes and... er, maybe discovering a few other fandoms. (DW still being Number One, of course.)

I hope DT doesn't call it quits before the real series 5. It's too close to the last scare of him regenerating (which I still don't know how they're going to explain whether or not he's used up a regeneration) My hopes are for crossover Doctors (honestly any would rock. I'd also like to see some sort of transition of hint on what will happen once Moffat takes over. But one thing I'd love above all else is Time War clips or even an episode or two (great excuse to have 8 for a crossover). Also I'd like something to knock the Doctor out of his emo funk. He's way to depressive of late, particularly in the last episode.

Rumours! I have found them! And I sincerely hope, like, all of them are true.

The Sea Devils?! Actually, I think I'd heard that one already somewhere. Of I were reviving another classic monster, I'd probably go for the Ice Warriors - I think they have potential.
Donna coming back has been strongly rumoured - I hope it's true, but I hope they do something interesting with the character rather than just bringing her back for the sake of it (that ring, I tells you!) I'd like to see Simm have another crack at the Master, too - hopefully with a better payoff, this time. And who can argue with Brian Blessed?
Not so keen on Jenny reappearing - that was probably my least favourite episode of the last season (that or the Pompeii one which everybody else seemed to really like); Georgia Moffett was rather good, I thought, and she is family, so to speak, but I thought Jenny was a bit of a silly character introduced in particularly silly circumstances - I'd hate to see her become some sort of ever-returning superheroine of Deus Ex Rose proportions.
Oh, and I hope they never, EVER, bring back Rose and Fake!Ten - their arc, I would argue, is well and truly over.
I'd love to see McGann - I'd REALLY love to see McCoy, for that matter.
It has been a persistent rumour that RTD is going to use the specials to, in some sense, tie up loose ends and leave Moffatt with a clean slate when he takes over; some people have interpreted this to mean a restoration of Gallifrey and the Time Lords - I'm not sure how I feel about that. It would be very nice, but on the other hand, the Time War, and the pain and guilt it inflicted upon the Doctor has been one of the more interesting aspects of the new series, and I wouldn't like to see all of that invalidated by some sort of super-reset button.
It's going to be a long wait before we know how much of this is true, anyway...

I dance about in squee and glee to all of these except the Jenny rumour. I don't mind her in fic, but her debue episode left a lot to be desired, and as a character... well...
ANYWAY
but McGann? Oh I hope I hope I hope...! If anyone deserves it! And John Simm! I actually forced myself to rewatch Soun of Drums a few days ago for the first time since it came out, and I was amazed at just how much I loved rewatching his character.
AND DONNA!!!
it will be revealed that her and Wilf are TIme Lords, and Donna is ROmana. You heard it here first. I know this to be true. My keeping of the faith will be rewarded
As for the Sea Devils, I can really see that. It makes sense with them releasing the Beneath the Surface Boxset. Clever, clever BBC trying to increase their DVD profits... that's okay though, because, (if we just pretend Warriors of the Deep didn't happen) the Sea Devil stories were all pretty decent.
I do sincerely hope that the BBC don't redo their costumes though. I want fishnet top lizards!!! (lol)

PAUL MCGANN.
Erm, sorry to shout, but PAUL MCGANN. This makes me very happy indeed.
And Donna and Wilf are made of so much win they had to come back somehow.

Well my only question is the master... I mean, that is serious awesome-sauce that he's making a comeback, but... was I the only one that saw him burned to a crisp? I mean... he's going to have a rough time brushing that one off.
MCOY, DAVISON, MCGANN AND COLIN BAKER! YEEEEEHAAAW!

Oh... one more thing. So does ANYONE know exactly when DT is supposed to leave, because I'm REALLY confuzzled here.

God, I hope not... Luckily: 1) This is a story from "The Scum", and: 2) RTD says things like this all the time, and nothing comes of them. Still, I hope not; she has never failed to absolutely annoy the hell out of me in everything I've seen her in.

Oh, come on, it's the Master; he's brushed off worse deaths than that and come back for more Cf."Planet of Fire" Call me a fanboy guilty exactly of the sort of things I accuse RTD of, but I'll be very disappointed if the big baddies in the specials don't turn out to be the Master and/or Davros. I know a lot of people say they don't want to see the Daleks back AGAIN, but personally I can never get enough of them, and I wants me some demented-wheelchair-genius action! And the Master - if Simm won't come back, get Tony Head (yeah, I know he was in School Reunion, but this kind of thing is not unprecedented in Who) - and with the Black Goatee of Evil, thanks very much. Here's hoping...

lol, yeah, it's not exactly like the Master hasn't burned to death/been sucked into blackholes and come back chipper as ever before.
If they really, really wanted (oh please I hope not though) they could even have his goo-snake incarnation come back. It would make about as much sense as anything.

In fact, you could probably put him through a _wood_chipper, like in "Fargo", and he'd still be back when you least expected it (or probably next week, if it was a Five story) - and with ABSOLUTELY NO EXPLANATION for how he got out of that one. Like Uncle Terry (and Ralph Waldo Emerson) says, consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds LOL

Haha, so true. I'll give RTD bonus points if the Master is wearing a silly disguise a some point. And if he has a fencing match with the Doctor, even better. The little black goatee of evil is, of course, a given. If the Master appears without it again I'll be quite put out (unless Tom gets his way and is given the role, in which case I'll be to busy trying to keep from gibbering wildly and squeeing to make any complaints about facial hair) ... My moddy powers went squiffy when I tried to post this first time and I ended up editing you JJPOR instead of quoting you... Kit, I am frightened of the responsibilities you have endowed me with.

Donna as Romana? I have no idea on how that would work out, but that would be amazing!
