Erm... Donna as Romana isn't a rumour persay, but rather my personal theory which I nursed all through season four and refused to give up at the end.
It's still possible I tell you!

I'll give RTD bonus points if the Master is wearing a silly disguise a some point. And if he has a fencing match with the Doctor, even better And bonus, bonus points if he has some blindingly stupid alias like "Mr Masters" LOL, or if the actor's name is given in anagram form in the credits in some doomed attempt to disguise the blatantly obvious. Fencing would be cool, but is not mandatory. What I really want is to hear him say "I am the Master...and you will obey ME." And remember, clocket; with great power comes great responsibility...

I try to keep the faith regarding Donna-is-Romana - Lord, how I try... WILFORD MOTT IS WTF TIMELORD Here's one out of leftfield for your consideration: What if Wilf IS the Master?! Seriously, I could totally see Cribbins doing Pure Evil!

Okay, here's a little diversion for you folks:
Assuming that (A) the Master will be back in the Specials and that (B) John Simm won't be persuaded to come back to portray him (two very, very large assumptions, IMHO) - which actor would YOU cast as Old Evil Goatee??!!
I have already said that I think Tony "Giles" Head would be just great in the part; he does suave, posh evil better than just about anyone, and yet has that chilly, killer thing down pat as well.
I think Jonathan "Fatal Death" Pryce could do a good job, too; he's such a good actor, he could either play it dead straight as a proper villain or do the Ainley cackling nutter thing equally well.
If they could find any way at all to resurrect Jacobi!Master, I'd be totally down with that; I'm still in awe of that minute or so of screentime he had...the eyes...the evil, dead eyes...
And he may not be the new Doctor, but I think Robert Carlyle would make an excellent Master - an intense, psychotic master with precious few laughs to be had, I'd suspect, but that may not be a bad thing.
Anyway, think about it, gang...

Wasn't TB asking to be the Master? He said he did at the time - it'd certainly be a very trippy experience to see him actually doing it. The Donna-is-Romana thing is something that I didn't really like the idea of when I first heard it, but which has gradually grown on me ever since... until it gets to the point where I so badly want it to be true, however unlikely I think it is to actually happen. In fact, as I think I've said before, any one of those crazy fan rumours about the Season Four climax would probably have been better than what actually happened. As for the Cybermen strongly tipped to be in the xmas special...well, they didn't really do much for me in their Season Two appearances, so I'm sort of apathetic about it. I'm sure, though, that when I watch it, having imbibed sufficient quantities of food and alcohol first, I'll think it's the best thing ever.

I have to write my Donna as Romana fic at some point before the specials air and make all of my dreams uncanon. *sighs*
Though, before I start anything, i've got to finish the fics I've already started.
TB as Master would make my day. *crosses fingers* *looks up* please?

My understanding is that the last we saw of the master was when his body was being burnt to a crisp on that funeral pyre. The only way that I can envision him coming back is either through time travel, (coming back before he died), or regenerating. Do you think that it's as simple as a last-second regeneration or do you think there's some timey-wimey magic involved?

I'm sure there are other ways for the Master to come back. It's possible it wasn't him we saw burning, he has pulled that mask trick in the past quite a few times.

He always finds a way, he's the Master!! I think the best way to bring him back would be in vintage Davison-era style; just have him show up in one of the specials with a transparent disguise and an obvious pseudonym, before he "reveals" himself, with NO EXPLANATION WHATSOEVER for how he got out of the whole dying and getting cremated thing ;D That would, IMO, be a touch of genius... And, yeah, that whole "Aha! It is me - the Master!" face-pulling-off thing never fails to be absolutely brilliant!

Or maybe he is just going to show up with no explanation at all. That would be interesting. Very unlikely though.
