I've been wandering aimlessly through Teaspoon for a while and stumbled upon some Eight oneshots. I found it ironic that a lot of the ones with Grace are written by Brits. I read two instances where the author has her say 'car park' where an American would say 'parking lot'. Not that I'm complaining, as I absolutely love British English and use it all the time (much to my fellow Yanks' confusion). But it does really bother me when an American writes a fic and has a British character (or the Doctor) say something distinctly American...
Well, that was a rather pointless post, really.
So to make it a little less pointless, this thread can be for any Grace Holloway discussion. I know a lot of people didn't like her (for whatever reason), but I thought she was a good companion, and definitely not the worst.

Isn't the Teaspoon just the coolest site? I've got say I'm guilty as charged with giving British characters distinctly unBritish dialogue, and making dumb mistakes in that department. I think my worst was writing "block" instead of "bloke" several times. But I also add in Americanisms and Canadianisms (like serviette, toque and chesterfield) ... yeah.
I like Grace. I like the concept of Grace and think she is pretty awesome character. I also think that the entire TV movie is a regeneration induced hallucination... but that's just my opinion. I think they could have got a better actress.
I LOVE Grace in Doomsday Dimensions.

After seeing/meeting Daphne Ashbrook in real life, she seemed like a really nice person. She talked a lot, though. But she said that she talks a lot when she's nervous. What really touched me was when she nearly started crying when she addressed how wonderful the fans are (and I knew that a lot of people didn't even like her character).
Doomsday Dimensions is awesome. =D

I should probably stop being harsh on actors/actresses. I tend to forget that they are real people somewhere and it usually isn't these fault (bad script, bad directing, bad lighting, whatever)
but that head pop thingy Grace does in the movie just makes me start singing pop goes the weasle every time...
You're really lucky to meet all these cool people Kit.

Haha, I just blame America for anything in the TVM (Disclaimer: No offence meant to anyone devoted to the States, et cetera, et cetera).
There're loads of other people that have met more cool people than I. My first DW con was fun, though. I intend to go back every year for as long as I can...

Haha, I just blame America for anything in the TVM (Disclaimer: No offence meant to anyone devoted to the States, et cetera, et cetera). I enjoy the sincerity there... "no offence, blah blah blah"! Fortunately, I'm not the least bit patriotic. I think Hollywood is our common enemy though. Canadians and Brits are just somewhat farther away from it than I am. I just saw the Deep Space Nine with Daphne Ashbrook again. ("Melora") It's hard to see what strengths she must have, in roles like these.
