There's a companion in the audios named Evelyne, she's in her seventies, has heart problems, and tries to solve all of the world's problems with chocolate cake. I love her to death.

which, in her case, mayn't be long at all. I'm not saying it's impossible, just improbable and impratical. And I'm sorry if I have now come across all ageist as well as anti-Mickey. I'm really a very easy-going happy sort of gal, honest!

Sally Sparrow would have been a good pick. As would have Dugan. Duggan would have been brilliant for a story or two - punching people and getting patronised by the Doctor and Romana. Great exchange: "You know what I don't understand?" "I expect so."

Actually, Sarah-Jane's pretty darn cool too, and she's what? 60? just saying...

But it's Clive Swift! Have you seen Keeping Up Appearances, he's absolutely brilliant! =D Er. Yes, the actor is the only reason I want him to be a companion. xD

I'm hoping that some time in the future Luke Smith from SJA might get to meet the Doctor. I get the feeling they'd get on famously. That is, assuming that Sarah Jane wasn't around to protest rather strongly against them leaving without her. (Come to think of it, it would be quite tragic from her perspective)
Anyhow - I agree that Sally Sparrow would have made an excellent companion. However, right now I'm mostly hoping that one of the guys will stay on a bit longer than two episodes at a time. I'm tired of the TARDIS being so blasted empty.

One missed opportunity I wish could have happened is Jenny joining her father on the TARDIS. She would have been brilliant and a great asset to him: both an ally and emotionally as, especially since being with her father might really refine her into a potential 'champion of time' ;D Also I think she and the Doctor deserve each others company. They are the last of the Time Lords (as far as we know now), and I believe every little girl should have time with her father. A chance to learn from him, to get his attention and praise, and to drive him sparse. I hope one day she does meet up with him again and gets the chance to travel with him, even if its only for one adventure.

I must say, I was really annoyed that Gwen Cooper from Torchwood didn't get a chance. Even to meet the Doctor face-to-face, and Journey's End didn't really count. Well, I know it kind of did, but I was hoping that she could actually meet him properly and maybe even travel a bit. She was always wondered when she was ever going to meet him, and she would provided the Doctor with a little more gung-ho, and fiestyness that he might see as Donna-ish. Obviously minus the love interest, since Gwen is already commited to Rhys. No problems there, and technically, he aint her type. But I think she would have been a great companion. But like Martha, she might not want to spend too long travelling and find herself more dedicated to Torchwood. Although, having both Gwen and Jack as companions would be....interesting

I kind of really wanted Tosh to meet the Doctor, and have him say "Wait, you look familiar, what?!??" or something of the sort. But she'd been deaded by Journey's End. Alas. And I was sad.

Yeah, poor Tosh; she was a bit wet at times, but she was the only member of the modern-day Team Cardiff who I didn't want to kill at least some of the time... Well, her and Ianto, most of the time, and...well...yes, RTD is a bit hard on blameless characters, isn't he?

I feel more sorry for Owen, actually. I've never really been a Tosh fan. I would have loved to see Owen as a companion....back in the day.
