Hmm... Well, they always do put the best bits in the trailer, don't they, so may not be quite as good as it maybe looks... Peter Capaldi, one of the good things about the Season 4 Pompeii episode that I'm always badmouthing, is in it, and he's a pretty good actor indeed. So, that's a plus point. The weird (alien-possessed?) kids were very Village of the Damned, I thought; could be quite creepy. Who's that fella with the beard? I recognise him from something else, but can't think what. Gwen jumping out of the back of an ambulance, Chow Yun Fat-stylee with a gun in each hand??!! Well, TWood do love their gunplay, don't they? Jack looks very, er, Jacklike... Fair bit of gore by the look of it, which is very TWood-esque. I do like Ianto's line, though, to be fair: "What kind of civil servants are you?" "Underappreciated ones." Where are Martha and Mickey, though? Weren't Martha and Mickey supposed to be in it?

All the children being gathered reminds me of that story of the guy who uses his flut to kidnapp the kids.
It looks kind of cool to me.

Where are Martha and Mickey, though? Weren't Martha and Mickey supposed to be in it? Nope. Freema's off doing Law & Order and Noel didn't want to return. Shame, but good to see them getting other work. Trailer looked good, in a very action-y way, but that's how trailers usually look. And sometimes Torchwood works best when there's just a lot of action and not too much deep thought or anything. Oh, Torchwood, you are so my guilty pleasure. Creepy children! I love creepy children! I usually think of that as more of the parent show and SJA's domain, but I'm hoping this means they get to be extra creepy.

Oh, Torchwood, you are so my guilty pleasure. Oh, I know exactly how you feel... My secret shame. Too bad about Martha and Mickey, I must be a bit behind on my rumours, but as you say nice to see them getting work. Noel Clarke in particular seems destined for great things - I don't know if you've seen the films "Kidulthood" and "Adulthood" which I think he wrote as well as starring in, but the guy's a real talent, and deserves to be a big star. I hope that if he doesn't want to appear in Who any more, he might see his way towards providing a script or two one day. And yes, there is some something compelling about creepy children - this looks a bit like the kind of plot they've done a couple of times in SJA, but hopefully the different timeslot will allow them to do it in a grittier, more realistic sort of way, without falling into the usual Torchwood traps of needless cruelty and would-be shocking violence that comes off as a bit desperate. It's a single story told over five episodes, though, and I hope they take advantage of that to deliver something that isn't as rushed and muddled as a lot of single-episode NuWho and Torchwood stories seem to be. And Gwen?? Two-gun Gwen action??
