Same, but The Great Healer's one of the few blokes here, so he's allowed to like companions.

This board does have a few individual traits, one of which is a general dislike of companions. Some companions, however, I like more than I like some Doctors. Now, back OT..... whose fictional body would I like to hijack? Was that it? I'd just like to get healthy and inhabit my own.

Amusing example of Who in daily life today: I was reading one of the news blogs on the BBC website today, and the blogger unwisely mentioned creationism in his post. So, naturally, the comments section beneath turned into a four-hundred-post argument on the pros and cons of evolution (let's not get into any of that here). Anyway, inevitably, the debate turned to Richard Dawkins, and then by natural off-topic-drift to Mrs Richard Dawkins, and from there to a heated debate not on the origin of species but whether Mrs Richard Dawkins or Mary Tamm was the superior Romana. Amusingly, most of the creationists seemed to be firmly in the Romana I camp. They were probably biased, though... ;D

I'm going to ignore the debate, because I'm tired of the whole..
But I for one do perfer Tamms over Ward (Ms. Dawkins). I just enjoyed her way of protraying Romana from her intelligent witt to her way of showing the Time Lord snootiness, thinking she knows so much but truly being innocent compared to the Doctor.

Forget about evolution vs. creationism...LOOOOOOMS! I like both Romanas. I think one was the natural progression of the other. I would have to say Romana I is my favorite, though, just by a bit. Get off my side, creationists. I really enjoy her banter with the Doctor. And while I'm very fond of Lalla Ward, she is honestly not that great an actress. I know that Lalla's attractiveness has been discussed here (and I will never stop being amused by hearing about David Tennant's crush on her) but...c'mon:

Forget about evolution vs. creationism...LOOOOOOMS! that's what they should teach in elementary school! Also, Lalla Ward is Mrs. Richard Dawkins, really? I swear I knew that... why am I so surprised? My favourite Romana is... well... you already know who my favourite Romana is *winks* but Mary Tamm does have the amusing introduction. I like Romana II too though... oh... *conflicted*

Both are good in their own ways. For years my impression of #1 was that her personality consisted of having a lot of clothes. She grew on me though. They didn't develop the character, and that's not her fault, in fact that's why Tamm left. My impression was also that MT just didn't really want to be there. Often it seemed that she couldn't be bothered to put anything into the reading of a line, even when she was supposed to be shocked or angrry, and this is taking into account the fact that she's supposed to be aloof. She just said certain things in an utterly flat way in circumstances where the most aloof person would have shown some feeling.
I think MT seems more involved toward the end.
#2... She seemed more invested, and had a great attitude, going from light-hearted straight to contemptuous and back again. My favorite scene of hers is when she first emerges from the Tardis in Warrior's Gate and goofs with the union slavers.

And while I'm very fond of Lalla Ward, she is honestly not that great an actress. You raise a good point; there are a fair amount of weird line-readings in most of her stories. She does, however, have a remarkable set of teeth, on a par with Tom's. I mean, seriously, the tooth-acting going on in some of those episodes is...exquisite, as John Cleese might say. ;D The Romana I vs II debate is one of those areas of Whodom where my opinion veers back and forth, often depending on the opinion of the last person I discussed the matter with. What can I say, I'm a born fence-sitter. I lean towards Lalla, but recognise that my motives for doing so may not be entirely objective ones. My favorite scene of hers is when she first emerges from the Tardis in Warrior's Gate and goofs with the union slavers. Yeah, that is actually an excellent scene; I make no secret of loving Warriors' Gate in general, something about its weird dreamlike quality and comical yet utterly despicable baddies. But yes, that's one of the things that makes me lean towards II. That and the bit in City of Death where Duggan says "Do you know what I don't understand?" and she offhandedly replies "I expect so." A killer line, and one of the ones Lalla delivers nicely. So, to reiterate my above comment about being as changeable as the wind, thanks to Magnus it's Romana II at the moment... It was nice to see Dawkins pop up in The Stolen Earth, actually. Quite why the BBC news would be asking a famous biologist about weird astronomical phenomena is another question entirely.

Also, Lalla Ward is Mrs. Richard Dawkins, really? I swear I knew that... why am I so surprised? Douglas Adams introduced them to each other at his 40th birthday party! I wonder who Richard Dawkins is married to in the Whoniverse.

Oh, cute, very cute. He's married to this woman he met at Douglas Adams's 40th birthday party; she has this weird fobwatch that she doesn't like talking about... As for the whole line about MT not putting herself into the role, I disagree. I think she put a whole lot in every episode she was in. She was just more subtle then the flamboyount TB. I think anyone put up beside him can seem a whole lot tamer.

Romana I always annoyed me. Something about how she was always so impractical and quite a know it all. By her last episode she was ok and then she regenerated. =) I like her better as Lalla Ward.

Something that occurred to me while watching Horns of Nimon; IMForeman is right about Lalla Ward's at-times-dodgy line readings, but if Sylvester McCoy has taught us anything, it is that dodgy line readings need not be a bad thing. ;D
Anyway, my point is that the crazy/angry Romana we get a glimpse of in Nimon is very nearly as entertaining as crazy/angry Seven - "You despicable worm!" etc. Brilliant...
