* Hmm, you know, I don't always agree with what this guy says - his continued bad mouthing of Donna after she was excellent irks me. But is a well-written and well-informed blog (and it has the Seal of Rasillon). Anyway, I agree with his words on 11: beasthouse-lm2.blogspot.com/
I'm sure he'll try his best, and I hope I HOPE that he can be different and that he isn't shoe-horned into being Tennant v 1.3 because that would be tragic
As for his look. IMforeman mentioned elsewhere that he should have a spy-glass. I agree. Give him a random pirate theme.
Yarr![/color] * Ah, Mad Larry Miles! Love him or hate him (and I think a lot of people oscillate from one position to the other), he's a good writer when the mood is on him - turned out some very clever, strange, ambitious novels in the Eighth Doctor range and, when he parted company with them, under his own Faction Paradox banner. Check out the Faction Paradox stuff if you ever get the chance - it's basically Who, with all the serial numbers filed off and reimagined in ways you couldn't in an officially-licenced Who publication. Revolves around this universe-shattering war (or War, to be precise) between the Great Houses (the scarier, serial-numberless equivalent of the Time Lords) and an unknown Enemy. And this was written before the new series came along with the Time War, too...
And in his blog, in among all of the bitterness and random meanness (he never lets up on poor Donna, does he, and would appear to hold a serious grudge against Moffat), he manages to be LOL-worthily funny, and make some serious points. I am very much in agreement with his assessment of Tennant's nearly-unique position in Whodom - I think we discussed it fearfully on here only a couple of weeks ago - and worry, as he seems to, that what Moffat and co are trying to do here is not so much cast a new Doctor as find an equally bankable replacement for Tennant. I am willing to be proved wrong, as I was with Donna, but it remains a concern.
I like Clocket's musings on the cultural mores that Who has reflected over the years. I think it is hard for a modern-day television series to have a hero, for want of a better word, who is not on some, however tenuous, level a sex symbol, or to have a male-female pair of lead characters without at least hinting at that old favourite the UST existing between them. Yes, even on what is ostensibly a kid's show. What used to be the exclusive province of fanfic is now openly implied, more's the pity; I for one found Martha's lovesick pining for the Doctor in Season Three downright cringeworthy abnd unworthy of a character who was otherwise strong and admirable. And don't get me started on Ten and Rose... That was one of the good things about Donna, the fact that they didn't play this game. I want them to try to break the mould somehow, to defy the format that the new series seems to have fallen into, but I don't think they actually will.*

Alright, I've seen the Confidential (which was AWESOME! Loved the little fashion show music video, and the new edit of the Thnx 4 the memories vid... the way it says "one night stand" as Rose falls into the void is precious. lol.) and... I'm going to lay up on the new guy. He looks FAR better in interview than in that promo picture. In fact he has a ridiculous resemblance to a certain guy I've been crushing over for awhile... who is married... but ANYWAY, and his accent is also very similar...
though, there is still the mystery of WHERE DID HIS EYEBROWS GO???
I'm excited now though, and his enthusiasm is adorable, as is his hand talking. And if those little clips were any thing to go by he DOES have quite the acting range. I'm still a little frightened by his hair (which ate his eyebrows, apparently), but given all of the emphasis everyone was placing on it I think that's not going to change.
I can't wait to see what he picks to wear *

* I have to say, I'm warming to the guy. He wouldn't have been my choice but then I'm not in charge of casting. I'm very much "wait and see" at this point.* As for his look. IMforeman mentioned elsewhere that he should have a spy-glass. I agree. Give him a random pirate theme.
Yarr!I hadn't actually gone so far as the pirate thing. But that's an interesting idea. Hmm. * I really hope one of his first lines as the Doctor (assuming there's a mirror handy) is "No eyebrows. That's weird."I think his outfit should be SPOILER. It gets Ten's approval!

I've seen pictures of 6 and 7, too. Not that it's something to be proud of having seen. I'm still crying a little on the inside. But it's nice to see 11 is carrying on the tradition.

* That's great - as is the purple Austin Powers suit they have Eleven in. What do you reckon, Clocket - time for a return to Three style frills and crushed velvet?*

This is as good a place as any for me to say that cp's new avatar and the caption for it are just the coolest. The fact that I don't understand it only enhances said coolness in my book.

I'm going to betray the fact that I'm not nearly as familiar with One as I probably ought to be by asking which story does that...remarkable image come from, and what was the original context?
It's not from Dalek Invasion of Earth, is it? No, thought not.

Does it make me a bad person if the only way I can get myself to sit through One's episodes is by oggling his male companions??? Yes. ;D I like the commentary - makes me badly want to see it, now...

...Does it make me a bad person if the only way I can get myself to sit through One's episodes is by oggling his male companions??? Nah, they are made of Awesome. Though I quite like One myself, he has that bit of manic eccentric about him and he giggles - I rather miss that fresh 'eccentric explorer who is generally amused by the irony and ridiculousness of everything' approach to the universe. I SO want a return to ruffles and string ties.
