Welcome (sorry for the lateness of my reply) my TARDIS got knocked off course by that boy racer the Doctor hurtling through the vortex like he thinks there's nobody around.
I'm the one who pretends to be a time lady
Eight is my fave doctor with Ten and five a close second and third...and maybe Six is forth...

With all Davisons I have to hobble my logic, which I do, because I want to have a good experience with them. It's very true, and I suppose it's why Five is at the bottom of my list - nothing against Davison's portrayal of the character at all - in fact, he's quite magnificent at times - but when I think of Five I think of stories that make me go "Wha? Who? What? Where? How?", and not in a good way. I suppose this is true of most 80s Who, to be honest, with the exception of Seasons 25-26 (well, I'll give you "Silver Nemesis" and "Ghost Light", but the latter redeems itself by being so crazy good in every other department that the plotting doesn't seem like such a big deal), but I notice it more in some of Five's stories for some reason. And you're right to compare it to the new series in this way - there are so many new series stories (particularly series finales, I'd have to say) where the resolution to a given situation seems to make no sense whatsoever, even in the context of the story itself, and yet it is done so blithely and unapologetically that you end up feeling like it's your own fault for thinking about it too hard... Anyway, I digress. Back to Five - I like Kinda 'cos it's unusual and it makes me feel like I _almost_ understand it sometimes (like "Ghost Light" :-) ). The one highly-rated Five story I really don't "get" is Earthshock - the Cybermen were never a credible enemy once they were in colour, were they? The concept of them is terrifying, but the execution in the later stories leaves a lot to be desired. I think that's one thing the new series Cybermen stories had right - the stories themselves weren't much cop but they at least got across the horror of the Cybermen themselves - of becoming one of them.

I suppose I'll join in with my ladder
Four Three Eight Five Six Seven Nine Ten One Two
The last two only because I haven't seen enough of them. Otherwise, the ones on the same line are tied for me.
