Well, folks, after all that waiting and hype here it is - your official DbyA discussion post for your ruminations and considerations on the Season 8 premiere Deep Breath. New series, new episode, new Doctor - it's all to play for! Will the boy Capaldi do us all proud?
As ever, keep all discussion about this new episode in this thread and not elsewhere, and please use either spoiler tags or whiting-out to conceal any SPOILERS (which, let's be frank, will be most of the things you want to discuss).
See you on the other side!

This review is a bit late! Sorry! But that's because dun dun dun I've gone to college! And free time has mysteriously disappeared. However, a busy schedule (and indeed hell and high water) could not keep me away from the series premiere! So... I loved it. I really and truly loved it. And it's been a week now, and I have no intention of stopping loving it.
Capaldi was excellent. There was just no question. From the moment he stepped on screen, he was the Doctor, no going back, no squinting necessary. And heavens, they weren't kidding when they said the scenes would be longer. I actually rewatched this episode. Multiple times. That's something I haven't done for the past season or so, unless we were watching it on DWL. I just wanted to catch all of the dialogue, every facial expression. The scene with the tramp, the beginning of the scene in the restaurant, and the end scene with Clara were my personal favorites.
Clara had the interesting role of I've-suddenly-got-a-character?! and I'm-also-an-audience-stand-in?! Which... actually worked? She was certainly given a lot more depth than the entire previous amount of time she has been on screen ever did. I felt the emphasis on Capaldi's age was a bit overdone, but that's just my opinion and I understand the transition was harder for some.
The last scene just killed me. I've heard some talk about Eleven's sudden (and historic!) appearance as stealing Twelve's thunder, but I actually enjoyed it immensely. One last bow, Mr. Smith, and we'll miss you. And Mr. Capaldi, welcome to the family.
Also that dinosaur was huge. Not that I care much but dang. I've got more to say on the subject, but it will have to be later when I'm not being dashed off my feet!
