Strap yourselves in, comrades! The end of the current season of New Who approaches rapidly, and I know that I for one am experiencing a curious mix of anticipation, fascination, trepidation and just plain fear at the idea of what Moffat is going to spring on us over the course of the next forty-odd minutes. So, here's your discussion thread for picking over the aftermath of what promises to be a fairly dramatic, not to say, game-changing finale, if Moffat is to be believed. Remember though; Moffat lies. As usual, keep all discussion of the new episode in here and out of the cbox. And please (I know you don't need to be reminded) use some means of concealing spoilers.

I'm a bit terrified of watching it, actually. * iwatches Eurovision instead.* Yes, it's that bad.

That is indeed a good mantra to have, although though at least End of Time didn't threaten to change the order of the Doctors.

they managed to sneak CGI Eccleston in there. Not quite a wax dummy, but close. Nine is apparently going to be in the 50th special whether he wants to be or not.

Four things that bother me, more or less in order of the degree that they bother me: 1. They can't just go and stick another Doctor in there, dude! I mean, I guess technically they can since nothings been stated in the show itself about there not being a Doctor between Eight and Nine. But it's still Not On IMO. Eccleston was clearly stated as being Nine by the then showrunners and it's in poor taste for another showrunner to change that IMO. Now, you all know that I'm not exactly the biggest RTD fan on the planet, but that's not the point. It's the principle of the thing. And what's more, it really bothers my OCD. Oh, you'll say, but we'll still keep calling them by their ''old'' numbers, we'll just call Hurt!Doctor something else!'' But I can't, man! I'll feel WRONG and at the same time I'll feel annoyed by Hurt!Doctor's very existence. It seems minor, I know, but I can't help it.
tl;dr DON'T DO THIS TO ME, MOFFAT!
2. WHY was River in this episode? She wasn't at all significant to the plot. She was just an excuse for more Eleven!Angst. It's not like there wasn't enough of that to begin with, what with it all being about where he dies etc. She was completely unnecessary. And what are we supposed to be looking at, exactly. Is Eleven is Twoo Wuv with her? Is he just feeling guilty? Are we really supposed to view this as a healthy relationship? Just put her out of her misery already.
3. Why do we need to know where the Doctor dies? And isn't that kind of limiting the options of future showrunners? Not that it's likely to that any of them will show the Doctor's death. But I think it's still interfering, in a way.
4. Anniversary specials are supposed to be FUN. Sure, there can be serious elements, but I don't want it all to be derailed by Doctor!Angst. Save that for ''regular'' episodes (although would it kill them to have some actual fun once in a while? It's not like those episodes don't work. Just look at The Unicorn and the Wasp.
Sorry about the negativity, guys. But these things genuinely bother me.

This episode was so cringe-y, over the top, did RDT write this?, worthy that I liked it. I am going with the "it's so bad, its good " route.

Hello, this is laptop me, posting with a laptop scrounged from the landlord's old discarded office equpiment. My being able to post on DBA is the first and only advantage I've seen so far. Anyway, I liked the gloom, I liked the Doctor knowing where he dies, I mean, why wouldn't he? Tardis as tomb, interesting. They can't really convince me that nuWho is connected in any way with Classic Who, so the Classic Drs footage just sort of washes over me. I don't buy that this companion appeared in the lives of all Doctors, since only Eleven seems to have noticed her. Her sacrifice is moderately affecting.... The splintering in time thing is straight from City of Death....
Why no recent posts on this? I'll have to come back to Maggadin's remarks, I may just not be observant enough to know most of what she's referring to.
