Your thread for discussing the latest episode of New Who - here's hoping it generates more buzz than last week's! Can the boy Gatiss make it two for two this half-series? We will see! Please keep any discussion of the episode in here and outta the cbox and - you know this already - use whatever means seems appropriate to conceal any spoilers.

Your thread for discussing the latest episode of New Who - here's hoping it generates more buzz than last week's! Of course, a Vorlon saying "Yes" would count as more buzz than last weeks, so... ~strange musical noises~ YES. Personally, I think this was my favourite so far this season. ] At the beginning, I was wondering if this was the Doctor-lite story, though the Doctor did end up being present for a sizeable chunk of it. Not that I'd have minded terribly if it had just been Vastra and Jenny solving the problem on their own. But other points I liked:
- 'Brave heart, Clara!'
- The North East! Factories! Model towns!
- The Repulsive Story of the Red Leech!
- Waif-fu!
- Trouble at t'mill!
- For once, the sonic screwdriver isn't the fix-all solution -- a chair does just as well!
- Strax firing his gun to good purpose!
- Steampunk Rocket! In fact, steampunk generally!
I thought Thomas Thomas the Satnav Urchin was a little too much, but I'm willing to give him a pass on account of the crazy-awesomeness of the rest. I'm less inclined to give a pass to letting people survive being perhaps two feet away from a rocket motor running at full power (My original guess at the plan was that the chimney was going to release the liquid as an aerosol).
Oh; did anyone else think 'Frying tonight' when the people were being lowered into the vat, or was it just me?

I think johne has mentioned everything about this episode that I absolutely loved, but I'd like to say something else: my conspiracy theory is totally right. Last week there was the 'Smiths' key, which I'm assuming is a reference to Sarah Jane Smith/John Smith (I believe that the Doctor also said 'State of Decay' at one point.) and this week there was the blatant, blatant reference to Tegan. I haven't seen much of Six, so I'm not sure if I'll be able to recognize a reference, but, at this rate, the last episode of this season should end on a reference to Seven.
