As far as it goes with The Great Intelligence, I automatically assumed that Eleven had accidentally touched his memory wyrm at some point. I feel like that's a smoking gun plot point in more than the context of this episode. I mean, didn't anyone else find it odd that the Doctor would be so cavalier about erasing memories? Especially after the whole Donna thing? The Doctor's ] had his memory tampered with plenty of times since he last met the Great Intelligence. In particular, Three complains of gaps in his memory in Spearhead from Space.
As for the casual memory wiping, I think it's all of a piece with his I'm-a-Time-Lord-I-don't-care characterisation. After all, he was prepared (had Clara not shown up) to let the Earth's population be destroyed by the snowmen -- compared to that, violating someone's mind is small beer. And, when it came to it, he didn't actually bring himself to use the worm on Clara.[

OK, finally time to talk about this. I should probably re-watch it before I get into any great detail now that it's been a while now.
I generally liked it, but frankly coming off it, not as much as some of the other Christmas specials. It had its moments, but I'm becoming increasingly miffed with the Moff and his tendency to keep adding mysteries and not really clear any of them up. I feel like his whole Doctor Who plot line ship is starting to list and veer dangerously towards the rocks under the weight of all these piled up unresolved things. I'm a bit frustrated.
A lot of people love Clara, but I dink of can't find it in myself. She has pluck, for sure, and she's interesting, but she bloody dies more often than Rory! She had me smiling fondly at several points during the snowmen, but I can't really get attached to her- I'm too fixated on getting the answers to important things like why the TARDIS was exploding all the way back at the THE BEGINNING OF SERIES 5 FOR #%&@$ SAKE! Ahem. Excuse me while I rage.
The TARDIS/tree-house/cloud/staircase thing was love, no buts about it. And I adore the unsubtle subtext that the Doctor is being a "man" by being a petulant child and hiding out in what is essentially his tree fort.
Mr. Potato head was a source of much joy. No more needs to be said- Although the Doctor was quite cruel to him sometimes, to the extent that I was really surprised by it.
I have to say that I was kind of expecting, (and actually hoping a bit) that the memory worm was going to chomp the Doctor and make him forget about the Ponds, or at least loosing them- Or at least give me a good whumpy amnesiac!Doctor plot.
The whole thing also ended with a bit of additional disappointment for me due to my own stupidity. Someone on Tumblr had posted earlier in the day that "The Face is back!" and I assumed that she meant "The Face of Boe" and I was supper excited for Jack- So I was basically staring at the credits going "Where was Captain Jack?" It was sad. It wasn't until later the next day, after seeing everyone's discussion of the return of 'the face' in the opening credits sequence that I realized what was going on. I still want Jack back...
But hey, the Snowmen were quite scary. But, the ice woman... No, she was not.
