I am certain that people have been building, buying, selling and coveting small blue Tardis for decades.
But I'm curious if there's currently a cheep source for a Tardis model or object that I can pack in my suitcase.
(Think, the roaming Gnome photos...)
Any advice?

Option #1 The BBC has several official models you can pick up via Amazon, Ebay, Toys R Us (depending on the well-stockedness of your local stores). There's a Tardis door hanging that would probably roll up nicely for travel and the models that come with the action figure line from Character Options can't be that big Option #2 It's technically a breach of copy-right but people do sell home made TARDISes (and scarves, and River diaries, and adipose, and well, anything you can think of...). You can find these on Ebay or Regretsy. Option #3 You can enter a geek craft exchange and mention to your partner that you want a TARDIS. This may or may not result in you being mailed a TARDIS. You will have to create a comparable craft for your partner. Option #4 Make your own model TARDIS. You can use clay, wood, cardboard, Styrofoam - whatever material you feel most comfortable working with. The level of detail is limited only by your patience and imagination. I'd go with #4 myself. There are literally thousands of reference photos of the subject and entire websites devoted to the subject of building: tardisbuilders.com/index.php?board=17.0Good luck! I've got my own travel "gnome" in the form of a broken pink alarm clock. It's a ton of fun.

Yeah, you've got the idea, Clocket. The wife says she's not hauling a porcelain Gnome around in her suitcase. I was thinking of something more simple. like a small lego tardis that could be glued together and suffed in a sock or wrapped in a scarf (gulp!) to protect it in a suitcase. It wouldn't have to be terribly detailed, but just recognisable if it were set on a ledge of an overlook, or in front of St. Peter's square, or next to a Redwood tree, or on Fisherman's warf. You get the idea. I figured, if I can't come up with one before this fall, maybe I'd hunt one down in London.... (the doctor seems so easy to find, these days, Love and Monsters not withstanding) and "L.I.N.D.A." might help me on that point...
Do the Character Options tardis come assembled, and what size might it be? 2 feet by 2 feet is too large. but 4 inch by 4 inches might be cool (Bowties are cool!) to fit in the carry-on. I just hate to explain to airport security why I have a tardis in my handbag with a tube of airplane glue.... ;D

Better yet, why don't you just get the 2' by 2' one and pack your stuff in there? It might even be bigger on the inside! XD
