Sometimes I think you guys take this show way too seriously.
I watch each episode with no exceptions, even if I have been spoiled. Enjoy it for what it is. I know sometimes there are things that get me going "OK this one sucked" or "that wasn't really needed" but what can I do? The writers wrote it, the actors acted it and BBC aired it.
I dislike Jenny and the episode. Thought it didn't have a story line and Jenny is annoying. But what can I do? Nothing. If she comes back, I may be a little annoyed but I will still watch. Who knows, maybe she will grow on me.
There is a fine line between dislikes and taking things way to seriously.

I personally don't think I take it way too seriously. I mean, I may get upset at something, but it's not like I feel it's the end of the world (no pun intended, haha). I can't believe the people that write huge long lengthy reviews about what worked, what didn't work, and what could have happened to make it better. I'm happy with a quick summary or 'type-while-you-watch' commentary, which is quite enjoyable (obviously, as I do it myself).
I don't mean to sound like I'm taking it seriously. Just like I sometimes fake-stress because I think I should be stressed.
However, I still don't think regeneration should be used so lightly.

Just noticed this: Hmmm... something interesting. Wilfred Mott is an anagram of WTF TIMELORD. Now that's just odd. That would have been awesome. I actually had a dream a few weeks ago where Wilf turned out to be the 11th Doctor.

Personally, I lke complaining. It doesn't mean I'm taking something overly seriously. My long reviews come from the random rants my room mate and I have while we're half watching the eppies half making jokes about them. I don't particularly think about them overly much or spent any time writing them. And, like Kit my main WTFs? were the snog and the random "I didn't regenerate, I didn't feel like it" huh?

What about Romana though...didn't she just decide to change her appearance?

Alright, I just saw it. Put me in pantaloons and colour me purple, but I liked. I actually thought it was a good episode. I didn't do any commentaries for this one though.
I thinkthat apart from some of the occasional RTD randomness and the senseless killing he seems to enjoy, it was pretty good. I'm also glad that Davros was finally killed. If he ever comes back I will murder the writer. I can see Daleks returning, but I think it's time that Davros just died.

Romana got to regenerate randomly because... I dunno. Cause she's cool, and because DNA decided it. Anyway. Yeah. I was re-watching WWIII today, which I originally disliked, and loving it muchies. not existant "massive weapons of destruction" hehehe. So I've decided that I apparently only dislike things right after they've aired. I'll probably rewatch this eppy in a couple of years and love it to death.

I'm somewhat late chiming in on this one, having seen it some weeks ago, but, yeah, you're all right. My inner fanboy was crushed by this. Defeated. As that guy in "Clerks" says - "What do you do for an encore (RTD) - ****** **** my mother while pouring sugar into my gastank?!" I have never before felt the need to post any commentary to the "Behind the Sofa" review site, but I did for this one - I had to share my bile with somebody or other.
Let's get a couple of things straight, up front - this whole two-parter was not a complete loss - there were some good things:
1) Bernard "Voice of the Wombles" Cribbins was as awesome as ever - he has been the second greatest supporting actor this season...
2) ...after Julian Bleach as Davros!!! Considering that the only other role I am conscious of seeing this guy in is as that circus-ringmaster-guy in that not-as-good-as-it-looked-in-the-trailer episode of Torchwood, I am prepared to pronounce him as possibly the Greatest. Davros. Ever. - and I worship at the altar of Michael Wisher and "Genesis", so that is a pretty big pronouncement from me. The dialogue between him and Ten in both episodes was so, so, good. The moment he shared with Sarah Jane knocked my fanboy socks off. The effortless segue from the Wisher-esque Evil Genius spiel to Molloy-style psychotic ranting was awe-inspiring. "This is a proper actor at work, and taking the script deadly serious, which is always a plus," I thought to myself. Especially fine was the moment when, overcome by the emotion of it all, crazy old Davros clutched at his head for a moment before screaming: "Detonate the Reality Bomb!!!" A moment simply made of win, as some of you might say.
3) Catherine Tate's acting. She was an absolute revelation this season. As pointless and idiotic as the resolution was, she really sold it, and managed to make it emotionally resonant and heart-rending in a way that the lame script really didn't deserve to be. This woman deserves awards.
4) Tennant. He's incapable of giving a bad performance. I really, really, like him, regardless of what I think of some of his stories.
5) The German Daleks. They really made me laugh, for some reason.
6) The bit where everyone was facing off with their respective Doomsday Bombs. UNIT's lunatic plan to blow up the world was especially fine, particularly the way it was built up in advance as a false reset button, and even more so that poor Liberian soldier who didn't want to be remembered as someone who'd destroyed the world. Oh, and the ridiculously easy way the Daleks dealt with these threats was also good.
But all of the above seemed wasted. Surely, you don't spend an episode and a half building up a villain to be as clever, as psychotically evil, as nihilistically ruthless, as Davros was here, simply to throw all of that away in an utterly nonsensical ending?? Well, apparently Rusty does. A ridiculous, pantomimically inane, resolution that occurs TWENTY MINUTES BEFORE THE END OF THE EPISODE??!! Sorry to use colourful language even in acronym form, but WTF?!
Whoever said above that NuWho is just RTD's personal fanfic and Rose his Mary Sue is absolutely right. Did her getting her own copy of Ten make any sense whatsoever? It's bad fanfic with a forced happy ending, is what it is.
And, having come out above as a Tennant-lover, nevertheless, what is so special about Ten that Rose, Captain Jack et al should be so horrified at the idea of him regenerating, and so pleased when he didn't? I didn't really think he would regenerate - had he really been going to do so, the great British tabloid press would have spoiled us weeks in advance - but this was still very, very hard to swallow. And the lamest cliffhanger resolution since McCoy dangled off that balcony by his umbrella.
Maybe I'm watching the wrong program - maybe I'm at fault for not loving the twenty minutes of soft, fluffy character stuff at the end of this story, but judging by some of the comments above, I'm not alone.

Romana got to regenerate randomly because... I dunno. Cause she's cool, and because DNA decided it. Yeah, cause she's cool - if Ten can grow a hand back immediately post-regen, I'm sure Romana can try on a few different bodies.

The whole regeneration thing didn't bother me that much. I mean, I was actually intrigued at the concept. It made sense, and I don't have any qualms with it to speak of. As for Rose and the doctor clone, I agree with Newton. Now the Rose fans are happy, and the Whovians are happy. We can all shut up about her and get on with the story. Jjpor, Tennant and Tate DID give an amazing performance, even though I was a little sad that Donna had to leave. She was my favorite Ten companion. Though here's a thought: you know that ring she was wearing? Won't she just see it and remember the doctor anyway? That's what was going through my head at the end.

Though here's a thought: you know that ring she was wearing? Won't she just see it and remember the doctor anyway? That's what was going through my head at the end. Ah, yeah, the ring...the way the camera always seemed to be on it. Red herring? Coincidence? What? I'd half-convinced myself in the week between the two episodes that the ring was the equivalent of the Doctor's pocketwatch, and that the Donna-is-Romana rumour was actually true. OR - that it was the Master's ring from "Last of the Timelords" - and Donna was possessed by the evil-goateed-one! I think I would have preferred either option to the actual ending we got. Thinking back on it now, I've got to laugh (hysterically) when I remember what I thought when Davros got defeated TWENTY MINUTES before the end - "Ah, here comes the big twist ending - it was the Master or Fenric or the Black Guardian or Sutekh or Something pulling the strings all along..." Little did I know...LOL Agreed, by the way, that Donna is by far the best NuWho companion thus far - the criticisms levelled at her by some sections of fandom just make me wonder if they were actually watching the show. Which doesn't explain why I missed her off my list of fave companions in my introductory post to the forum. Ah, well...

I found a rather good fic that involves the ring holding the Master's consciousness and he starts taking over Donna's mind. Or something. He gets her fired, anyway. Donna is absolutely brilliant. She's definitely up there with my favourite companions. Her awesomeness is unsurpassed. Donna > Chuck Norris. It are trufax.

You see, Donna is Romana. This will all be revealled by and by and then the awesomeness that is Donna will return, first to the TARDIS, and then to Gallifrey, where we will see her quite often over the next decade or two as she rebuilds.
This is how it will be.
Those heretics who do no believe will be fed to the Drassiks.

I guessed that, but...
hold on... if DALEK can break the barrier to the Time War, the why shouldn't Time Lod be able to do the same? Hmmmm.... interesting variables we have in the wind right now.

For some reason, RTD, saying this on the commentary completely restores my faith in the man, and humanity in general. I'll second your and raise you another - Jovially! Jovially!

This actually doesn't reassure me much, but, seeing as he wrote it, leads me to wonder what the Belgium he was thinking.
