I'd be frankly surprised if someone hasn't already discussed this somewhere, but too celebrate my new icon, I figure I'll indulge my morbid curiosity and post this.
As it says in the tittle: Fish Custard... Yay or Nay?
Would you eat it? Have you tried it? Loved it? Disgusted by it?
Weigh in your oppinions on the doctor's new comfort food, both personally and as an addition to the show. What did you think of the scenes.
Your thoughts, I want them! >XD

I would not could not on a boat, I would not could not here or there I would not eat it anywhere, I would not eat it in a box...wait, hold the phone, is the box blue? Bigger on the inside? I'm can be convinced...
As for as an addition to the show, i dunno it seems it's weird just for the sake of being weird and in that it reminds me a bit of the decorative vegetable, it's random and doesn't really have any reason behind it, and kinda turns me off the idea, honestly.

When I first saw the Doctor eating fish sticks and custard, I thought to my self, that looks sooooooo good. Every time I see that seance, I crave it.

Maybe Newton was eating fish custard at a séance? One of these days she's going to convince me to try it I think... I wobble back and forth. I'll try anything once, but I've got the feeling that it will just go to the back of my throat and stick there being all sweet and cloying and fishy. Euarhghg.

Let's get some positives to this thread then! XD
I'd totally try it "at least once" as Clocket puts it.
I'm not sure where or why or how, but I can picute what custard should feel and taste like, despite the fact that I can't remember ever actually trying it. I think it would really come down to what brand of fish fingers it was. It's so hard to find good fish fingers.
I'll have to wait until I have an excuse to go get groceries on my own sometime and pick up some custard. My mom would probably not approve of it as an extension of my obsession with Doctor Who, which she's already kind of iffy on... Maybe I'll go over to my friends house and cook it there...
I'm off to go make evil plans to have a fish custard party now! >XD

We fry fish in dough then eat it with sauce, it really can't be that bad!

I haven't tried the particular brand of fish 'n' custard the Doctor eats, but if it's anything like the Japanese unagi aisu or sanma aisu (eel or fish ice cream) I have a feeling I'd actually enjoy it. I preferred the eel as the fish was far too salty for my liking, but the flavour's actually not hateful at all.
That being said, I would try it if it were proffered, but would not go out of my way to make such a ... er, delicacy. ;D

I'm trying to imagine this... I suppose it might not be that bad if you could add a little tangy something or other to it, like chopped pickles or a splash of malt vinegar. And leave out the vanilla in the custard. Maybe.

In defense of five, Merry, I liked the decorative vegetable. XD

I...I'd rather not, to be honest. ;D As an addition to the show...I don't know, as Merry says it might just be quirkiness for the sake of it as is the wont of NuWho, which I don't necessarily approve of, or it might be in the same category as Three putting half a bag of sugar in his tea (or did Jon Pertwee just have his tea like that? ) and the idea that aspirins could kill him, you know, just a little reminder that the Doctor is not human. Or it could just be a strange regeneration thing. Jammy dodgers, on the other hand, I can get behind the notion of jammy dodgers. And custard creams! ;D

This new doctor definitely strikes me as one who must like his tea snacks and pastries.
I finally told my friends the twins that I've been planing a fish custard party at their house. They were surprisingly unperturbed by this... And more importantly, they say their dad will totally go along with it! We're thinking maybe when the new season premiers, but maybe sooner.

No need to defend The Oncoming Beige from me, Blue, I'm quite fond of him (and his decorative vegetable) myself, it was just an example. To be honest the entire montage of scenes (the eating n yelling at Amy to cook) was just too farcical for my tastes. It also seems a poor introduction to a Doctor widely seen as more sympathetic than the last few (though I think our theory from the other night is correct and that theory could easily explain the break in character).

Farcical, but possibly no worse than Four striding out of the TARDIS in his "Viking" outfit... ;D It was setting a tone for the character, I think, really.

I've always gotten the feeling that if he said most of those things to Amy nowadays, particularly the bit about frying something, he'd got a slap that'd make Jackie Tyler look tame...
Merry, I loved "the oncoming beige"... lol. It is a good way to describe him, he is sort of... beige...Dunno, it does just fit doesn't it. I love that he's so guileless.
Which theory was this again?
Also, the fish custard party is ON for this Saturday! ^^ I have to go fish and custard shopping this week now...
