I have been spying on another forum and one person posted this: "I've been bored all day, so I've been watching YouTube clips of Matt Smith and Karen Gillan giving interviews, cracking jokes on set and generally having a wonderful time being together....and then Arthur Darvill is there, too.
It makes me very sad to imagine that he is Rory in real life, just kind of standing around while Matt and Karen/Amy and the Doctor are having a hell of a time."
I need to see youtube videos to see if this is true but I find it interesting. We will never know what really happens on set but it would be interesting if the relationships formed in real life projects in the characters.

That is an interesting thought... I always wonder how much is acting and how much is personality. Not speaking for people I don't know, but it could be that Matt and Karen have just had more time to get to know each other, being in more episode together, and generally being the ones picked out for interviews and stuff since she was the first companion introduced to the media whereas Rory was... just a bit mysterious until he showed up on screen and proved his awesomeness.
