*Well, we're only at the halfway mark, but so far I think I like this one more than last week's. Last week's had some strong character moments, good acting and earnest life lessons tied to a practically nonexistent story. This week's was more what I want out of SJA - fun story, humour, the characters doing their thing and some pointless Who continuity references. Yes, I lack ambition when it comes to SJA - what of it? ;D
But yeah, SJ and co sabotaging the NASA Mars probe (of course, in the Whoniverse Britain was sending manned missions to Mars back in the 70s, so that's nothing to brag about ;D) - mention of an "ancient, terrible" civilisation and then a...wait for it...a pyramid hove into view on the horizon! ;D Yes, yes, I'm easily pleased...
But yes, top stuff from Gita and Haresh and the LINDA-like UFO group they've joined - especially the bit where they were all looking at the ceiling and Haresh was like "??!!". Androvax the body-possessing lizard bloke back for a rematch, so people got to do funny voices and get a big CGI tongue superimposed on them again... And amusingly Matrix-esque Men in Black, the same Men in Black we are lead to believe as Ten encountered in Dreamland. I bet them and 50s-60s-era Torchwood had a grand old time battling for control of various crashed alien artefacts...
But yeah, those are my first somewhat scatterbrained thoughts - I'll see what I think after Pt 2 tomorrow...*

Written after seeing both parts, and the 'next time' trailer: ] I was quite taken with Evil Harry Dread, though I'm not entirely sure that whatever reasoning underlies his actions would stand up to a moment's scrutiny. And Clyde, as ever, is superb.
Of course, the highlight from my point of view was the trailer, with the Doctor's cheery "Hello everyone!" And Jo, though one of her lines quoted in next week's Radio Times makes me wonder if RTD is up to his old tricks regarding companions and pining [

*Yeah, I did like the Man in Black and his deadpan style - esp when he was calmly sitting at the traffic lights in his old jalopy, because of course blending in among those silly humans includes obeying their traffic laws. I still wasn't sure why he couldn't have just avoided Earth being destroyed by teleporting the spaceship out of the vault under his own initiative, unless he was programmed without any initiative, although there were a couple of points where he appeared to display at least some...
Lis Sladen can't do that being-possessed-by-an-alien thing without it coming across a wee bit sleazy and/or wrong, can she? Not that this is necessarily a bad thing... ;D
Clyde is, and will always be, The Man - I loved his claiming of the Ray Bans as his spoils of victory, and his impromptu speculation on the laws of fate and causation... I find the subtle, or not so subtle, suggestion of Clyde/Rani quite cute as well (although I continue to get the Clyde/Sarah vibe from time to time too, which is...understandable for a lad his age (at the same time, Daniel Anthony is actually well in his 20s) but still kind of wrong...
Next week's - next week's had better be good, is all I can say! I like that Matt Smith can sort of bring the Eleven with just one line in the trailer, and it's truly a joy to see Katy Manning again, but yeah I will wait and see and pick over every line of RTD's dialogue with a fannish fine tooth comb to see whether I approve or not... ;D I think we will be very, very, very lucky indeed if we get through it without at least a little bit of pining, but I will wait and see how it goes, because I think Rusty is a lot better when he isn''t writing season finales or big, showrunner-type plot point stories, and I don't think this falls into either of those two categories...*

Yes, I think that might well be true... *How long before it is revealed that NuWho and its spinoffs have been taking place in the Land of Fiction all along?? ;D (Gareth Roberts in his Missing Adventure The Well-Mannered War would have us believe that everything post-Horns of Nimon took place in the Land of Fiction, but that's just him and his funny little ways I guess...)*

* I love the episodes with Gita in them; she's so cute. It also amuses me to no end that they're using the Men in Black, and that they even call them Men in Black. And the fact that Sarah Jane and gang hacked into NASA...after watching this I kind of just want to sit here and squee at everything.* Take me Androvax! Do it now! LOL!

I...I think maybe that's one you should work your magic on johne (assuming Clocket doesn't do it first...) ;D
Yeah, Lynda - Gita and Haresh continue to be the next best thing about it after Clyde - those three should maybe have their own spinoff if SJA ends after S5... ;D
