Oddly, as I re-watch the series, and read more fic, she's starting to grow on me. I still don't think there's any excuse for how she treats Rory... but my head!cannon is getting all muddled up with the real!cannon and whenever a character manages to do that, then they've got to be at least a bit okay.
And she is pretty.

I adore Amy, both grown up Amy Pond and little Amelia Pond, and how she grows up shaped by who she was as a kid. Matt Smith has described her as "almost as mad as the Doctor is", and I think that's an important part of her character. All the previous main New Who companions have partly been there to humanize the Doctor and provide some grounding and while that's important, and Amy has done a tiny bit of that, she's really the first new companion to break the mold, which I like.
Her treatment of Rory is not okay, but it's understandable based on who she is, and even though she makes a lot of mistakes, she obviously does care a lot about him. She's not very good at dealing with feelings, but she's learning. She has some very obvious flaws, but she's also brave and resourceful and clever. And, yes, ridiculously pretty.

This has to earn some sort of prize for headline dissonance. Article body text: When asked if she enjoyed kissing Matt Smith, Karen Gillan said "Not initially." Headline: Who girl’s kiss hellStill, I suppose it did its job, because I did click on it and read the article

That's a very short article they made out of their one sentence interview.

I love Amy. I felt an instant identification with her and her screwed-up brain. I kind of hate that they brought back her parents, giving her the 'perfect' life that her 'previous' self didn't have.
I hate happiness and sunshine, can't you tell?

Rory and Amy's post-Big Bang memories are a bit of a grey area, aren't they? I mean, is Rory plastic/not plastic/not plastic but thinks he's plastic/all of the above? And the same with Amy - even though she has her parents back, is she still the same messed-up Amy who grew up without them? I kind of hope this doesn't mean she's now "better", because the disturbed aspect of her character was the truest, most interesting side of her, and written with surprising subtlety throughout S5. I wouldn't want to think that the happy ending invalidated all of that...
And that headline, johne...don't know whether to laugh or shake my head...so I did both at once...

I mean, is Rory plastic/not plastic/not plastic but thinks he's plastic/all of the above? Maybe we'll have to come up with a new subgenre/character for the world of whofic - Handy can be joined by Plastic!Rory in the kinda-AU-canon category and go have whatever kind of fic adventures a plastic centurion Rory with a fun little hand-gun could have that regular Rory couldn't.

There could be, like, a Clone Society. Handy, along with Auton!Rory and JJ's Duplicate Romana. ;D

Handy is the valeyard and I hope like heck they keep Rory an auton, really is all that makes sense, since real Rory is dead...or at least, that's my theory and I am sticking to it *wink*

I...on the subject of dead Rory/not-dead Rory...I really don't have an answer to that one. I think when they rebooted the universe it made everything the way it had been, so Amy had her parents back and Rory wasn't dead...but...when Amy remembered the Doctor, Rory did too - he said something like "he was the stripper at my stag night and I was made of plastic" or something... But, plastic Rory wasn't really Rory, real Rory was dead, so plastic Rory just thought he was real Rory...and...and...I'm confused...
Yeah, while I'm blabbering about 50th anniversary multi-Doc stories, I hope they have Tennant playing a duel role as Ten and also as Evil!Handy out to destroy the multiverse or something... ;D

The theory that seems to explain matters best is that the current Rory is human, and that like Amy's parents he was called back into existence by Amy's memory. Only because Amy also met the plastic Rory, he remembers those bits of his life as an Auton that Amy knows of.

I disagree because Amy's parents were eaten by the crack while Rory was killed, he died and then he got eaten by the crack, so Rory had already ceased to be just a bit of his soul was copied.
