Hi everyone! I'm Raine, and I'm fairly new to Doctor Who, having seen my first episode a little over a month ago. I've been looking for a place like this to talk to fellow lovers of the show. Hopefully my library will be nice and have Classic Who delievered soon so I can see those, as well as the new dvds so I can see all of them.

Greetings Raine! I'm Clocket, one of your friendly neighbourhood mods. Welcome to the forum, and welcome to fandom!!
I got in with Nine and haven't looked back since.
Out of curiosity (and conversation) what was that first episode and why did you keep watching? And how did you find our obscure (but wonderful) little forum (which is, in fact, the best Doctor Who forum on the Interwebs)...?
;D ;D ;D

Salutations, Raine, very pleased to make your acquaintance - Three's my man, but I love them all, and you'll find folks here ready to embrace just about any aspect of Whodom that you can imagine and then some.
I'm also wondering what that episode was, but I'm glad it happened if it brought you into this lovely fandom world.

Thank you for the warm welcome! I first saw Vampires in Venice from the current season, and I kept watching because it intrigued me. I live in the United States, and we don't normally get shows like this on tv, so it was something fresh for me to watch. I found the site through a Doctor Who rp site that I was going to join, and this site was one of the linked sites.

Were we really? I wonder if one of 'our folks' is in that rp then, we seem to have a preponderance of writers here. Vampires was interesting - I can only imagine what it would have been like to see that one with no prior concepts of Who... an odd introductory bit, I'm sure! Glad you stuck with it, and by all means do delve into the older Doctors as well, you've over 45 years of catching up to do and it's such fun to do it. :-D

This is the site I found this forum on: doctorwhen.proboards.com/index.cgiOh yes, it was very interesting. I spent most of the episode not sure what I was watching, to be honest, but BBC America was showing a marathon, and I had recorded episodes after that, so I decided I might as well watch them, and I got hooked. I have many of the old shows requested at my library, so whenever they come in I'll get to see them! I've only seen almost all of the 11th Doctor and a couple episodes from the 10th Doctor, so I can't wait to see more!

When I came in with Nine I was the same - NO CLUE what I was getting into, or even what I was watching really (though, at least I had the good fortune to catch it on the first episode, which gives a good introduction to the key concepts...) but by the next episode I was taping them for re-watch (and re-watch, and re-watch... I killed the tapes).
I can't imagine coming in on Vampires though. But it is a good story and very Who-y. It's all madness. I like it because it's so different from anything else on TV (and so different from itself, episode to episode... you think they've done it all, and then the next episode airs and you get baffled all over again)
Anyways, while you're here, feel free to explore! Click the 50 most recent to see what we've been talking about lately, or go explore old threads (and resurrect them if you want; it's encouraged), or start new threads of your own. Ask questions! Get dirty! Squee! Randomness is encouraged. The show is random so we ought to follow suit!
...
pssst
If your Internet is up to it there are *cough* ways of catching up on the rest of Who. Just send a pm.

Ahem, yeah..."ways"...ahem... Welcome Raine!! I'll say all the usual stuff, about we're a friendly bunch, it takes all sorts, best forum going etc etc - there, that's out the way. I'm from Liverpool in the UK, I've been watching Who since I was a little kid in the mid-late 80s - Seven's my man (wait til you get to Seven! He's awesome!). And Eleven...Eleven right now is The Man, isn't he? I deeply enjoyed the most recent season, even if I've sometimes expressed doubts about bits of the new series. But yes, always good to see new members, and indeed new Doctor Who fans, and I hope you enjoy yourself here!

Welcome to the board, Raine! Exciting to see the new generation of fans come in with Eleven...I've only been a fan since 2006, which isn't long compared to some people, but even since then a lot has changed. Have fun. I hope you realize what you've gotten yourself into.

Hi Raine, nice to meet you! I am in the US, and although I had heard of Doctor Who I had never had a chance to watch until 2006. Since then I have become a raving fangirl, and have been working on watching all of the classic stories that I can.
I hope you can join us for Doctor Who live sometime. We usually watch classic stories, so it would be a chance for you to see some historic episodes. The details are always posted in the Announcements folder.
