Hey all I ordered The Eyeless (lance parkin) from Borders on Friday and it shipped today (YAY!). I was curious if any of you have read it and if you have what you thought, also was wondering if there were any other DW books you have read that you really liked (as I am reduced to ordering now since I have bought all that's currently available in the US).
"I'm the Doctor; I'm worse than everybody's aunt!" The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.
Haven't read this one, but I always get suckered in to buying the novels because they're the only Who merchandise that all the major bookstores here stock. And then it's always like "I don't have any with Martha..." then the next year "I don't have any with Donna...", and most recently I've found myself going "I don't have any with Eleven..."
Anyway, despite this, I've never been particularly fond of them. And yet, for quick reads aimed at kids, they're pretty decent. As long as I don't expect anything great, or even up to good fanfic level of quality, they manage to be satisfying. I did find Beautiful Chaos to be the best out of those that I've read, and the only one I'd unreservedly recommend.
I did once get a "Decide Your Destiny" book, because it made me nostalgic for the choose-your-own-adventure books of my youth. It was lousy, though, so don't get one of those. Unless the newer ones are better.
