That made me blink too. I suppose that's the difference between writing fanfic and the real thing, maybe...? Though, heaven knows I paced the floor and twitched and bit my nails to their beds when I wrote that (in retrospect rather crappy) Big Finish thing for their call-out, never mind that no call back was expected or has occurred.

I'm sure you're selling yourself short there. There's an lj comm where people have been posting their rejected Big Finish efforts, if you felt like sharing it (mine's on there); or you could just stick it on the 'Spoon... I, unfortunately, have never felt like God when writing fiction. How disappointing... Oh, more tales of writing for Eleven (SPOILERY SPOILERS - INCL CLIPS OF THE NEXT EP FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO CAN WATCH VIDEO ON THE BBC WEBSITE!!!!): news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment_and_arts/10223837.stm

I'm writing an Eleven/Amy Ten/Donna story as we speak, it was meant to be a quick little one off but is trying to burgeon into a regular adventure, funny stuff between the companions and their doctor's as the two pair eye one another up, it's not the same as what (name obscured my posters squees of delight) said, but I think to some degree or another we all face that as writers at some point.
On the other hand, other than this SAturday's story I am MOST looking forward to the story in the link, oh wonder!

I'm looking forward to it too, even though it's a year away, just to see what he does with it... I suppose I have had that feeling of writing something that I thought was great, and feeling enormously pleased with myself etc, but that's just my natural self-congratulatoriness coming out... ;D I look forward to seeing that story, Merry. I don't think there's been anything like enough good Eleven fic; I've been a bit disappointed by how many people are still writing Ten instead. Give it time, I guess. Tomorrow's looks like it could be a good one. Here's another video (don't know if anyone outside the UK will be able to see it); WARNINGS FOR SPOILERINESS! YOU WERE WARNED!!! www.guardian.co.uk/tv-and-radio/video/2010/jun/03/doctor-who-richard-curtis-karen-gillian

ACK!!!!!!!!!!! You guys, these rock, spoiler-free clues for tomorrow's episode! www.sfx.co.uk/2010/06/03/vincent-the-doctor-spoiler-free-preview/I'm betting one of the two Doctors is One as he was in the first episode and the library card id scene, though I would like to be wrong as I'd LOVE an outright multi-Doc, also I kinda think the Doctor is inside the Pandorica, as it's the msot feared creature in the universe and I am STILL waiting for that watch ( I won't admit to being wrong unless I absolutely MUST) I have more but I will put it in the brainstorming thread.

"Van Gogh is shown taking a shine to Gillan's character..." I thought, oh well, there goes the other ear...

HAHAHA Magnus, only you! I'm bit saddened by everyone being so taken with Amy, do we really need the characters (one a show mind) to point out she's beautiful? Also why was no one EVER so taken with Donna? They were with Rose and MArtha, so I guess DW is saying even aliens and beings from the future don't like women who aren't impossibly thin and impoosibly lovely. Great going, DW, a whole generation of kids with self-esteems below sea level.

Hey JJ, mind sharing the link for that community? I don't think I'd post my story just because Big Finish said they were hanging on to all of the entries for future brainstorming (I still don't think in a million years I'd ever get picked, but you know how it is... but yeah, I think, living outside the UK, good or bad, tax reasons would prevent it, still... *clings to thinest vestige of hope*)

Hey JJ, mind sharing the link for that community? I think he's referring to this. When did they say that?

Oh, yeah, thanks johne! And it's just posting the link to your story, not the actual story - I should have been clearer on that... And hmm, if I'd known about that brainstorming thing, I might have kept the cards close to my chest... Ah well, too late now! ;D

I may be lying through my teeth about that mind... because now that I think of it I can't find Big Finish saying that anywhere. It's more or less just what I assumed, and we all know how accurate my assumptions can be. *cough* Wilf is totally still a Time Lord though *cough* edited because I clicked the link and wait, wait, WAIT there was another short trips STORY competition and I missed it? BAHHHH!!! WHY DID NO ONE TELL ME ABOUT THIS?!?! I was talking about the OTHER call-out Big Finish did this year; the one for the script pitch for a 25 minute play with Five and Nyssa (and about a dozen constraints on what the characters could do in said play) and a five day deadline... that. I had no idea there was a short story call out as well. *stomps about angrily* Well, not really. No. Because now I get to read the resulting fic! (this would also be why I was so surprised about there being a comm, because i was like, what, wait, there's a comm filled with nothing but script pitches for Five and Nyssa and "no more than two other original characters")

I know - weirdo sample script pages featuring Five and Nyssa would be quite an unusual thing to have a comm post about, I guess (at least mine were weirdo - they featured Five and Nyssa locked up in a 1930s mental asylum...and I hadn't the slightest idea how to write Nyssa...)

I know - weirdo sample script pages featuring Five and Nyssa would be quite an unusual thing to have a comm post about, I guess They've got a thread about them at Gallifrey Base. This probably doesn't contradict what you said above (There's a matching thread for the Short Trips, too).

I have no Gallifrey Base account, alas. I'm sure my sample was pretty deranged as well JJ - it was set in a time anomaly filled with disembodied voices and the Doctor had a silent clone son. Yeah, because I thought having a character who didn't talk in an audio script would be a good idea...

Hmm, avant garde... The other thing about mine was that the big "twist" in the story synopsis was more or less exactly the same as the big "twist" in Amy's Choice, which would probably have caused problems down the line if they had gone with it...
