I slighted Dodo, didn't I? I should make up for it. Here, Dodo, have a thread. You are a many accented, elderly teenager, but you have your moments, indeed you do and didn't deserved to get packed off to the country, but then again worse things have happened. (So, let's not mention the books, right?) And Dodo changes future history with her cold is quite fun, as is her enjoyment of the Gunfighters, as she falls 'victim to every cliche in the old west'. And comedy stuff with a gun, too. And I am reduced to helpless laughter every time I watch The war machines and Dodo's first request is to go to a night club. What? ?

Yeah, let's not mention the books. And I even quite liked that book (I think it's readable online somewhere still), but yeah...uncalled for.
But yeah, companions who the Doctor more or less deliberately left behind...it's a shortish list...

I have in fact portrayed Dodo. I slapped a huge black wig on that obscured my face (no accident), put on a red t-shirt with a black bulls-eye on it, and sang "Silent Night" as incoherently as a hippo in heat. I feel fairly confident that this video production will not be tracked down, but I have it.

I...I'm speechless, Magnus.
Actually, he left Susan behind really, didn't he? Maybe it was a One thing...
But then he kind of left Tegan behind too...except that he then immediately ran into her again, because Five/Tegan was too epic to be over so quickly...or something.

Somehow I am not anything like as surprised as I ought to be...

Don't scare me like that!! We took turns playing Dodo in this or that video parody. I was the last one in the organization to do so I think-- it was our Christmas story. For us, Dodo was one step beyond the Gumbies from Monty Python... we had her bellow in a manner which suggested a recent brain injury so that not one word was distinguishable. The genderbending was accomplished through two pieces of fruit, I forget what kind, which kept falling out. Absolute idiocy can be "therapeutic" sometimes...

You may interpret my long silence in response to the above as mortification....
