I looked for a thread on the ever lovely Victoria, so I'd thought I'd start one.

She has the same name as me! I like her outfits, and I think she is pretty. Many people don't like her, most of her stories are burned, but from what I have read online, she seems alright.

She is, indeed, lovely. I wish there was more of her left (but the last time I made that wish, I ended up enmeshed in a plot to dominate the world, so I ought to be careful). And her and Jamie together just make me go "Awwwww...." in a slightly sappy way. ;D

I love Victoria, she and Jamie were simply adorable together and she was one sharp cookie.
I've seen various postings here and there in which the general opinion is expressed that she was 'just a screamer' or would faint all the time. I couldn't disagree more! One of the things I admired about her was the way she used her screaming as a tool. She didn't just gratuituously scream, she carefully timed it to cause ice and snow to come down on her pursuers, for instance, or to repel a monster. She pretended to cry when the Doctor told her to, as a cover for his own attempts at saving them, not because she was actually overcome by the situation, etc.
I found her brave, intelligent, pretty, very sensible and sweet. No wonder Jamie fell for her!
Of course, all of you probably already know this, but I just had to blather on about her for a moment. Woot!

I like her in The Enemy of the World - the one surviving bit.
I have to say that while she's lovely (and Jamie/Victoria is a cute ship indeed), she's something of a problem, because she's so often not used well by the writers. Once they've got this Victorian on board, she gets straight into modern clothes with only a few seconds of hesitation. I mean, can you seriously see a mid-Victorian middle class girl leaping from a crinoline, at least 3 petticoats, ankles covered at all times to a short skirted dress like that? Mind you, this makes her kind of a scarlet woman in her own way, which is very amusing. But it does beg the question of why did they bother and not have a modern girl?
So I like her when she gets used properly (all the Kaiser pudding stuff and not actually being able to cook it, I adore. And David Whitaker - he's terrible for the shippiness - writes Jamie/Victoria, without a doubt! Sorry, I love David Whitaker.) And her being so careful of the Doctor when she finds out how old she is in tomb is lovely. But she's also scripted so dumb only a few minutes later. *sigh* This is what I mean. She has a lot of potential and Debbie Whatling is lovely and plays her with a certain michievousness which is very appealing, but there's some very uneven use of the character that in the end makes me rather relieved to leave her behind for Zoe. But then, her serials are all missing barring Tomb, so it's a bit unfair.
And it was also really, really unusual to find a Victorian called Victoria, too. *bangs head*

That came out a bit negative. I hope you understand that I like all the DW companions. Sometimes I wonder about Adric, but by and large... And I thoroughly approve of her costume in The Ambominable Snowman. If a Victorian girl were going to say, well skirts are no use for running away from monsters, that is exactly the sort of thing she might go for. If didn't prefer just to die respectable.
