I have been following a guy (Tricklestone) on YouTube who is doing reviews of all the story arcs. He started with Hartnell and plans to go clear through Tennant, hopefully before the next series starts in 2010. He is really funny, and he doesn't do spoilers because he wants to inspire people to view the classic years for themselves. Since I haven't seen a lot of those years I find it helpful, and I thought other newbies might too. The first video I saw of his was a rant called "Pissed at Doctor Who Fans," which is about Matt Smith. It is well worth viewing. www.youtube.com/watch?v=LYAvrwVBA1IHere is the link to his review of "The Unearthly Child." It is one of the longer vids; most of them after this are 3-4 minutes. They also get funnier as he goes on. www.youtube.com/watch?v=xgBLfVm_Nik

Aww this was fantastic! Thank you so much for the link! I've only been able to watch the first one so far but I love his point and its beautiful. Especially since I came in where he did as well, by watching Eccleston's first season and am now working my way through Old Who.
But Matt Smith is going to come in and most likely do fantastically like all the other Doctors before him.

His random winking at the camera freaked me right out, but I think he's my hero too...
*appologies to Matt Smith for certain comments I might have made*
*runs off to watch reviews*

Only seen the first one as well, but it's refreshing to see someone so enthusiastic about the show. I was slightly apprehensive going in, because usually the sort of videos that exist to tell other people that they're wrong and are thus bad fans are less than wonderful, but he actually makes a fairly compelling argument, and doesn't come off as too condescending.
It does tend to take me out of the moment and cringe a bit when I hear someone discussing Doctor Who with an American accent. I know, that's ridiculous to say because I'm American, but I have the same feeling when I say things like "Dalek" or "TARDIS" out loud. Does anyone else have this problem or am I just weird and possibly anti-American?

I always cringe when my room mate says 'Dalek' and 'Cyberman' in a faux-English accent (which isn't too shabby as far as faux-accents go actually, but still... *cringe*)
At least he didn't say Dar-lek or, worse, Day-lek

His random winking at the camera freaked me right out, but I think he's my hero too... He actually doesn't do that winking in his reviews, I don't know what happened in this rant. Please hang on until you get past the first couple of reviews, because they really start to get good after that.

Ooh dear. I just started getting into his Classic Reviews and I'm watching his review on One's second story, "The Daleks" and it is HILARIOUS! Love his use of music and the timing every time he says "Dalek" or "Dal". teehee And "Susan fell down while running. I'll be saying that a lot." www.youtube.com/watch?v=VEdfCwtMiM4&feature=channel_pagethis guy amuses me.

Love his use of music and the timing every time he says "Dalek" or "Dal". The little music cue whenever he says Dalek continues anytime their name is said. Since I am a huge fan of "Young Frankenstein" I really appreciate that. (Frau Bluher!)

I loved his take on the companions - 'don't be an Adric...be a Jamie." I'm definitely going to have to take some time to watch these, good times.

Ooh dear. I just started getting into his Classic Reviews and I'm watching his review on One's second story, "The Daleks" and it is HILARIOUS! I just watched "The Daleks" yesterday, and I totally agreed with his review. It is a great story, and I especially liked the city miniatures and the jungle. I must confess, I did find myself laughing a lot at some of the Dalek's dialogue. "Stay away from me! Stay away from me!"
