You know those odd moments of nostalgia which, when combined with the boggling power of google, result in moments of clarity, reflection, and remembrance? Anyway, I just had one.
On a whim I googled the half forgotten name of this cheesy computer game I played when I was... eight? And discovered that yes, yes it did actually exist (and I can actually download it if I want to). The graphics consist of grainy still-images which only change when you roll the virtual dice, and you had to map out the dungeons yourself on graphpaper... as a child this all fascinated me. Though I never actually finished the game...
So, um, does anyone else have fond memories of grainy old-skool computer games? I also used to fiddle with Super Solvers, Master of the Orion, and the old sim games; simcity 1, simant...
(oh, and this truly old black and orange image Arabian Night's type game that I can't for the life of me remember the name of... I think it was the first video game I ever played though.)
lol, looking back, I was a little bit of a gamer wasn't I? Now a days all I play is minesweeper.

I'm old enough I remember going with my brother to a local pizza place because they had a little table that had 'real faux woodgrain' sides and a smoked glass top. If you inserted a quarter, you could sit on either side of this magical table and play... PONG.
It was uber-cool. Seriously. We wasted a lot of quarters batting that little virtual ball back and forth. Space age! Futuristic! Later on we graduated to occasional wasting of money on Asteroids.... I still love that game, weirdly enough...

I had one of the first Nintendo game system. The shoot the duck game and Mario. I wasn't very good at the games and didn't like it much. I remember playing Barbie and Lion King computer games when I was a kid. One was full of mini games with a two player option. My friend and I would beat ever mini game. When Myst first came out I remember watching my family play. It gave me nightmares and I wasn't allowed to play after that. I now have Myst three and four. Hm, maybe I will start playing Myst three game.

I remember those text-based adventure games they used to have, where it used to say things like "You are in a very dark room etc." and you'd type something like "go north" and it'd say "you've fallen off a cliff" or something. They used to be on casette tapes in those days that took about half an hour to load. I actually had one of those Atari games consoles; the Ghostbusters game was great, if repetitive.
It seems that all of my posts tonight have involved misty-eyed reminiscences about my long ago childhood. One of the first signs of old age, they say... ;D
