Right... normally I wouldn't bug you with this, but I'm absolutely at my wit's end. Do any of you know how to use excel??? I've been given a data set which contains 3 variables: level, artifacts, and artifact percentages, and I'm trying to find the best way to graph these in excel, preferably without too much dependence on colour for telling the variables apart. The image below shows my data set. The chart on the left is my best attempt in excel, the chart on the right is my paintshop visual explanation of what I'm trying to do. Is this even possible? If not, is there a way to combine multiple bar charts into one? Or does anyone have any alternative suggestions for presenting this data?

Well it sounds like a presentation issue, not a mathematical problem. If that's indeed it, then here's what I'd do from what you told me: From your data presented in the excell spreadsheet, your graph does pretty much what you're telling it to do. I can see that. Visually, however, the colors make it hard to read. I'd choose different colors that you can tell apart, but at the same time aren't so dazzlingly different that they don't distract from the data needing to be presented. If spacing is an issue, then I would go ahead and make the graph in paintshop. Just make sure to label it clearly and neatly, and it shouldn't be an issue. Questions though. A. Does the graph NEED to be an excel graph? B. On my graph-maker, I have an option called "stock chart" that seems to be what you're looking for. Does your version of excel have that? The button on the bottom right is the stock chart option. do you have that, or is that not what you're looking for? Let me know if I'm even remotely understanding what it is you're asking, alright?

.... spats, is that your computer screen? Do you own an ASUS sub notebook, or did you just get the pic from another source? If you do own it, then we have the same computer.... odd.

UPDATE: I finally just did the graphs on paper. Excel was just too maddening to deal with

I actually do have a sub-notebook. It's really handy... and it's green.
