Is something bothering you, Newton?

Newton, I just edited my post to remove the bit you just quoted, because I changed my mind and decided you were being sarcastic. Now I just don't know. What word are you talking about that you're wondering if I made up?

What word are you talking about that you're wondering if I made up? Oh magnusgreel, you really must not doubt your self. You are a very smart person and I can see that through your writing. It's different. I have a learning disability and dyslexia which means languages are a huge difficultly for me. You can see it in my writing and spelling. I have to spell check everything. I even had to spell check the word "dyslexia". When I read your stuff, I often don't get what you are saying. But I am not saying to dumb your self down, no keep writing the way you do, it shows how smart you are and being smart is a great thing.

Thanks Newton, I can't think of how to explain why I thought you might be sarcastic, not a short explanation anyway. I thought that you might be saying I'm full of myself.
Most people have some difficulty spelling, and I don't think dyslexia means a person has to be less intelligent. I don't know much about it, though. As for spelling, most people on the Internet don't seem to care, and often don't even bother to use spell-check.
On this thread, most of my comments probably come from the fact that I'm not familiar with most of the things that people do on computers these days (such as "neopets"), and I'm not very computer-oriented. I just go on message boards and that's it.

Don't worry about it Magnus. There's so much on the internet these days it's impossible to know where everyone's at, and neopets is very much aimed towards the under twenty crowd. In fact, it'a a bit embarrassing to be twenty and still play the site. Anyway, I think you and JJPOR are both wonderously tech-savvy considering your age. My parents... *rolls eyes* I finally got my Mum a hotmail account, and taught her how google works, though I still have to stop her from clicking on those 1000th Page View You WIN A PRIZE!! things... but, she's getting better my Dad though is completely hopeless; he can't use a mouse and is convinced that you have to pay extra for "long-distance" emails.

Neopets?
I love those things! They are soo cute! Ok, I will hold those thoughts back. Doctor who is the only addiction I have. I spend over a thousand on doctor who a year. Now I have realized where most of my work money has gone.
Still, I will just get another job. When I am not working, I am doing homework, when I'm not doing homework, I am buying and watching Doctor Who

Oh Clocket, he is just being a immature jerk. Because I had a bad feeling about this guy (Which I still do). He isn't being funny. One reason why I left neopets is to get away from the dumb 15 year olds, but they followed me. Dalekman, those pictures don't bother me. If anything you are making me stronger.

You're probably right Newton, though, I like to prentend that everyone is a nice person and take everything as a joke rather than an insult. Maybe it makes me look a little slow in day to day life, but whatever, I figure I'm happier that way. So, currently, I'm pretending that this is an attempt at sarcasm. The pictures don't bother me either. Frankly, I'm more amused that he spent the time going to get them. To Dalekman, if this was some misdirected attempt at a joke, whatever, it wasn't funny, but I'll forgive, water under the bridge right? If you're just out and out being an ass for the sake of being an ass please vacate the forum now. And for the record I wish I did have a thousands of dollars to spend, but, alas, the majority of the money I earn goes towards food and rent. if I did have thousands of dollars I'd be buying a plane ticket to Belize... Speaking of which, I think I've been accepted to staff at the field school this summer coming! Whoot! If I'm lucky I might just get a paid trip down! *dances*

Lol, my Mum isn't really that bad (though she did send me a bunch of dumb forwards this morning ARGH!). As for my Dad, it's really ironic because he actually has a Master's in Computer Engineering... *sighs* actually, I'm not sure if that's ironic or tragic. I think he could figure out modern computers if he really wanted too, but he's not quite all there really, so it isn't really fair of me to make fun of him (though I'm allowed 'cause I'm related. if anyone else tried I'd prolly punch them). but yeah, MOST FUTURESHOCKED PARENTS EVER! there should be an award...

cp-- so many seemingly contradictory thoughts crowding into my head... Your father knows 1000x more than I do about computers just by having that degree... Most of what I learned about them I learned in 2002 in the first hour from a friend who helped me set my computer up. Apart from that, I just apply the same general sense of logic to figuring other little bits out and that gets me by, just barely. It's that sense of logic that gets me into trouble in other areas of life! I tend to try to pry underneath people's assumptions at times when I should probably just shut up...!
Your parents, very nice people I'm sure, have successfully crossed that generational threshhold into becoming their own parents, sounds like (also very nice people, I'm sure). They come across as being like what our parents were supposed to be like, only about computers... I doubt it's generational, though. Just differences between people, probably. You referred to "people your age" I think... people my age and older invented all this stuff I think! (Though I know nothing about computing devices so what would I know?!)
Re "prolly"... is this chatspeak?
I'm all over the map in this post, sorry... I tried reading "Future Shock"-- one simple premise, then he gave a million examples to support it! I had to stop reading, he convinced me early on then drove the whole thing into the ground.
Dalekman becomes Neopetman... thus proving that Neopets are the more dangerous and insidious threat to the Universe. At least we are now seeing a pattern. Shortly after the Dalek-Man stage follows the Neopet-Man stage. I'm not sure what comes before all that, maybe a larval stage.
Quoting Neopetman: "I have some serious neopetting to do." I don't even know what neopetting is, but that sentence still struck me oddly.
I'm sure there are more random tangents I forgot to go off on in this post, and for that I humbly apologize.

Ah, but my Dad's degree comes from the seventies, back when computers where the size of buildings.

Anyway, I think you and JJPOR are both wonderously tech-savvy considering your age. LOL - that made me spit my drink out and nearly fall off the chair laughing! I still labour under the misapprehension that I'm a young man about town - it's sad, I know. Now I feel old... Certainly, I'm no expert with these electrical computing machine thingamijigs, but I get by As one of the few uninfected remaining, I'm currently pushing furniture up against the door and nailing planks over the windows in preparation for my last stand against the Neopet-infected hordes; they won't take me without a fight!

This serious Neopetting seems to be very serious indeed. I won't worry though, I think I've been very successfully innoculated against cutesiness. Neopetman's new avatar activated my immune system and made my eyes shut down for a few seconds so I wouldn't have to look at it.
As for age, I've never had a prime of life, so if I ever somehow get out of the medical thing, that's when it starts.
