A note: o.o OMG, I did it. Feel free to review or respond or whatever in this thread if you want, I don't mind. I even want to commentate on my own fic, how weird is that? And if you see any typos, let me know. I just ran through it somewhat quickly. And does anyone care to remind me how punctuation is supposed to work with quotes? I can't remember three years ago when they actually taught me grammar. -headdesk-

Kit was sitting at her desk listening to Queen and trying not to do her homework. This is a daunting task, for she knew that the assignment was really very large and had to be finished before the end of next week. And yet she persisted in procrastinating.
Then, suddenly and without warning, a strange—and very loud—grating-type noise filled her bedroom. She stared in wonder as a blue box appeared out of nowhere, almost landing on her no-longer-snoozing dog.
Said dog began barking like mad at the box-that-wasn’t-there-before. But this wasn’t just any box that randomly appears out of thin air. Oh, no. This box happened to be bigger on the inside, travel through time and space, and house a certain renegade Time Lord that in some universes saved planets, while in others was a fictional character portrayed by various actors in a British television programme.
It just so happened that, due to a freak wormhole in the wrong part of a certain galaxy, the blue box had arrived in a universe of the latter type. It also just so happened, by pure coincidence, of course, that our procrastinating protagonist, Kit, who was introduced in the first sentence, is a fan of the above-stated British television programme.
The doors of the blue box swung open, and out stepped three people: A tall man with a mop of brown curls wearing an insanely long scarf, a second man with shorter hair and fantastic sideburns wearing what appeared to be an undress naval uniform, and a young woman with shoulder-length brown hair wearing a sensible suit.
‘Oh, dear,’ said the man with the outrageous scarf that happens to be the above-stated Time Lord known as the Doctor, ‘This doesn’t look like twentieth century London, much less UNIT HQ.’
He looked around and spotted our procrastinating protagonist who was staring open-mouthed at the three intruders.
‘Hello, there! Could you tell me where we are and what year it is?’
Our procrastinating protagonist, Kit, suddenly fainted due to the shock of seeing three people and a magical blue box that, before that moment, she had thought to be fictional.
The Doctor turned to his two companions, ‘Well, now we’ll never know what year it is!’
----
‘I say!’ said the man in the naval uniform whose name was Harry Sullivan, ‘Help me get her to the bed, Doctor.’
‘Hmm? Oh, yes.’
And so the Doctor and Harry lifted our now unconscious protagonist and placed her on the small bed in the corner of the room.
The young woman, whose name was Sarah Jane Smith, asked Harry, ‘Will she be all right?’
‘Yes, I think so. It’s just shock, probably. I don’t blame her, seeing a big blue box suddenly appear in your bedroom would be quite a surprise.’
Our protagonist’s small white dog had been continuing to bark at the intruders all this time. Finally ceasing once Sarah bent to pet her to show they meant no harm to her owner. Well, no more harm than what had already been done, anyway.
‘Well!’ the Doctor suddenly shouted, causing Harry and Sarah to jump just a bit, ‘I don’t see any aliens threatening to take over, let’s get back to the TARDIS and find the Brigadier.’
‘Oh, Doctor!’ Sarah Jane Smith scolded, ‘Let’s at least wait for her to wake up and be sure she’s okay.’
‘Oh, all right. I’ll look for something that might give a hint as to where we are.’
And the man in the scarf went sifting through the various items on our unconscious protagonist’s desk.
‘Hmm, this is odd.’ Said the Doctor after a few moments of snooping.
‘What is it?’ Sarah asked, peering over the Doctor’s shoulder.
‘There’s a map of London, but also a manual for a maritime museum in San Diego. And—What?!’ the Doctor turned, a grim expression on his face as he held up three ID badges. Sarah gasped.
Harry came over and peered at them, ‘I say! Why, that’s yours and Sarah’s and the Brig’s UNIT badges. How on earth did she get those?’
‘I don’t know, Harry. But we’re going to find out once she wakes up.’
----
‘Doctor,’ said Harry, ‘I think she’s coming to.’
Our no-longer-unconscious protagonist’s eyes blinked open and she sat up on the bed, staring in awe at the three people surrounding her.
‘Oh my God—’
‘All right, alien! Who are you and where did you get these?’ The Doctor held up the three ID badges.
‘I—’
‘Aha! So you’re a shape-shifter from Irregular Galaxy IC 10!’
‘I say, Doctor, let the girl speak.’ Intervened Harry.
‘I, er. My name’s Kit. And I got those badges at a, er, convention. See, some people have heard of you, Doctor, and are really thankful for all the times you’ve saved the Earth, and so someone made fake ID badges and I bought some. I don’t know who made them.’
‘See, Doctor!’ said Sarah, ‘a perfectly reasonable explanation. You’re famous, is all.’
‘Well, it’s about time someone noticed how often I’ve saved this miserable planet of yours. A convention, you say? Devoted to me?’ A smug grin began to form on the Doctor’s face.
‘Don’t encourage him!’ Sarah whispered to our procrastinating protagonist.
‘No. It’s a convention... for, er, people that save the Earth. Real or fiction.’ Kit quickly made up.
‘Your accent is American, isn’t it?’ asked Harry, ‘Are we in America?’
‘Yeah. San Diego, California. Year 2008.’ Responded our procrastinating protagonist.
‘Ah!’ exclaimed the Doctor, ‘I thought so.’
‘Doctor, be honest,’ chided Sarah, ‘you had no idea where we were did you?’
‘Of course I did. Judging on the landscape outside and the visible technology, I knew exactly where we were!’
Harry and Sarah exchanged knowing glances, but decided not to argue with him.
‘Well, we’d best be off.’ The Doctor tipped his hat to our procrastinating protagonist, ‘Sorry to have bothered you.’
‘You made the poor old girl faint, Doctor!’ said Harry.
‘Yes. Well. Goodbye!’ And he went to open the door of the blue box, which was still resting peacefully in the middle of the room.
‘No, wait! Can I come with you?’ Kit jumped off the bed, which probably wasn’t such a good idea, as she began to feel just a bit light-headed again.
‘Steady on, old girl!’ said Harry as he quickly came to support her.
‘Come on, Doctor,’ pleaded Sarah, ‘It’s the least you could to after making her pass out. Just a short trip? I’d like to have some female company for once.’
The Doctor stared at the pleading faces looking up at him and gave in.
‘Oh, all right. But just one short trip, and then your back here.’
‘Yes!’ Kit punched the air with glee and followed three complete strangers, who only yesterday she thought to be fictional characters from a television series she was quite fond of, into a blue box that was bigger on the inside than the out.
