Aw, that's the trouble with last fifteen posts.
I knew she was gonna die. It was a great episode, though. =D
I bet some kids wish they had a remote control to turn off their parents...

This ep just had me sitting bored and going WTF?
I did feel bad for Donna and her husband. He remembered her! But he couldn't talk. *sniff*

I saw about the first five minutes last night before the internet crashed and I couldn't get youtube to work anymore, so I spent nearly an entire day going "No Donna no, what are you doing with a husband and kids?" and generally being anxious to find out what was going on. So I was very happy to finally see the rest tonight. The Vashta Nerada's home forest being destroyed actually made me feel a bit sympathetic towards them (does this count as another link in the "lost planet" arc?), and the Dr. Moon being an artificial moon scanning the planet for viruses was a fascinating concept, I thought.
Even though I was freaking out about her being married with kids when that was all I saw, the parts with Donna's family turned out to be some of my favorite and most heart-wrenching parts. Like where Donna was talking to her little fake kids and they were saying that they stopped existing when she closed her eyes, I just felt so sorry for them and their poor little fake existences, and then when they disappeared like that, it nearly made me cry. And that part, at the end, when her fake husband sees her and tries to call her name but can't because of his stammer - that did make me cry. Poor Donna.

I can see why Moffat is replacing RTD. Srsly.
I really wasn't all that dissappointed that River Song died. To be honest, I was wishing she would. YOU KNOW THE DOCTOR IN THE FUTURE!!!! WE GET IT!!! SHUT UP ALREADY!!!! So yeah. Otherwise, a very good serial.

I did not like her. I usually like Moffat's one-off characters. But River just bothered me.

I wasn't impressed with either of the latest episode, and honestly I wasn't crazy on how they did the character of River Song. But I suppose the concept of her character is interesting I must admit.
The Doctor meeting a companion before he/she is a companion and he/she knowing him. It isn't something that has been done before (well, unless you consider Mel but I haven't seen her first eps).
I personally enjoyed Donna's plot line in the episode, and I felt more sorry for her on losing the man of her dreams. I hope he comes back and is the reason Donna ends up leaving the Doctor eventually.

Hmm...slightly dissapointed by the ending..I'd guessed most of it. I like to be surprised plotwise. and at least riversong is stuck in that computer away from the Doctor....I still think she was travelling with an imposter Doctor not our Doctor. or maybe she was 'Pete's World' Rose Stuck in our world. anyway..I'm off back to the library to find that diary...I want to see the spoilers

When I first saw this two-parter I liked the first episode and was less than thrilled with the second; or rather, the ending of the second which just seemed to over-shadow everything else. River Song's monologue annoyed me to no end, as did the Doctor's assertion that he laughs at archaeologist (hey now! steady on!) However, I rewatched it this morning and found myself loving it, and even cheering at River's monologue (which really surprised me a bit. Merry, you and your fic are getting to me). Well-done on the rewatch Moffat, well-done. Still, I wonder how many young children were given a fear of libraries by this? Which probably isn't th best thing in the world... oh well. Why is it that I dislike Ten, dislike Ten, dislikedislikedislike, and now that he's leaving I'm all like NO TEN! DOn'T GO!

I sort of share your Ten situation; maybe I'm getting sentimental in my old age, or maybe I'm just a fickle fanboy, but now every time I see Tennant being even remotely likeable or admirable in an episode, I'm like "I'm sure going to miss you, Davy T!" (Well, not literally; I'd never call him Davy T, for starters...) Yes, though, I have noticed myself doing this, but then I've always maintained that I like Tennant's performance and Ten as a Doctor just fine; it's just some of the scripts that I have issues with.

I agree. It is more about the issues with the scripts than the Ten or DT. I personally hope that with the change of head writers might lead to some improvements in scripts and stories. However, I'm not saying there aren't any good scripts or story ideas. If there weren't any good ones, then I wouldn't be a watching.

This two-parter really is a lot better with rewatches; I think the reason I was disappinted initially is because it's a MOFFAT episode and we let the hype build it up too much in our minds, and so were bound to be disappointed with the real thing.

If you take River the way she is written she really is a bit annoying, however, as Lynda mentioned, upon re-viewing the episodes, you aren't as gobsmacked by her and start to be able to put yourself in her shoes. She really is a character with insane possibilities. everything else regarding the episodes I enjoyed on the first viewing. Donna noble has left the library donna noble has been saved, hey who turned out the lights? Come on, that's just good fun!

I think Lynda's right, though; I think Moffatassumed this godlike status (as a writer, anyway, regardless of his extracurricular utterances) for a lot of fans after Blink, and anything he did after that was going to be a let down. Funny how the godlike thing seemed to evaporate fast after it was announced that he was the new showrunner; fickle, fickle fans...
I think it was a pretty good two-parter, easily at the top end of greatest NuWho stories ever, even if there are quite a few above it, but I don't think it was the best story of Season Four, because I think that's pretty much a two-horse race between Midnight and Turn Left (I loved The Stolen Earth if only because it was 45 minutes of pure fanw*nk, but Journey's End left me feeling so bitter, I think I automatically marked the first part down too). And it galls me to say that as a sometime dedicated RTD-baiter, but I find myself softening towards him the closer to the end of his tenure he gets; a bit like Ten, really. Stuff I would have been ranting about a year ago I'm now fondly shaking my head at and going "oh, Rusty, you fool..." ;D

I actually really enjoy this two-parter. The whole thing with Donna I found really cool (any weird trippy thing I like, I think it comes from being a fantasy fan with an inherent insecurity about reality). The scene with her kids disappearing is terrifying but has made me go "omg I love you Catherine Tate you are so awesome" whenever I've watched it. I even like River Song, though I also get why people might not.
I've said this before, but I might as well repeat it: I don't like Ten very much but I love David Tennant. He just seems so sweet and genuinely enthusiastic and really getting who the Doctor is, and the responsibility of such a part, because he's a big ol' fanboy. That's why I'll be sad to see him go, and also the fact where any Doctor regenerating tends to be a bit sad. He's also a bit pretty.
