A bit of a lead-in and possible spoilers for the Xmas special. It made me laugh out loud (intentionally!) at least twice, which is probably a good sign: www.youtube.com/watch?v=G17_B4uACggAnd he clearly doesn't meant it.

Lol, I too laughed out loud twice, so I think I know precisely what you mean JJ. Also: The Doctor in period dress? What can this mean?! Lol for his fuzzy coat collar though. Interesting that he does indeed look a bit in a slump. He's not quite so put together clothing-wise. He's a bit shabby, and his hair looks a bit 'Meh' under that hat. (Not to mention the Hat itself, definitely shabby.) Can't wait to see what the Doctor's up to to be actually blending in like that!
This makes me want to go request fanfiction with the Doctor described as having gone grey and colorless a-la Alice in Wonderland 2010's Mad Hatter.
"Damn Moon!"

It looks a bit like the coat Delgado Master has on in Mind of Evil, which is undeniably a baddie coat, but doesn't look quite as sinister on Eleven. Also, speaking of Three, did anyone notice that the things the trio are trying to get the Doctor to investigate (meteorite shower, professor with a giant drill) have a certain Season 7 sort of feel about them, shall we say? As indeed does one of the detectives herself, now that I think about it.

Which season 7? You know, the real one. Good call, johne. Although, to be honest, I think Inferno might well be a Professor Challenger reference, at a couple of removes.

A bit yeah. They sure blew that poor inspector's mind though.

Also possibly a tenuous Evil of the Daleks reference, although I do sometimes see references when they aren't there....
