Further proof that Doctor Who should not be used as inspiration for pop songs. And that I have way too much time on my hands. I've posted some of these before, but here they are gathered for your cringing pleasure. Doctor in Distress: www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmgi8kBYWSM ... well... it suceeded in bringing the show back for a few more seasons. But at what cost??? I am the Doctor: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLXOO9PnnMQ... yes, we know that, know please stop rapping (he does have a lovely voice though) And of course the classic: www.youtube.com/watch?v=bdTELokKfCkThere was another vid, but it seems to have been removed. Shame. It featured someone playing the banjo and singing about how: Doctor Who is gonna save us, Doctor Who will set it right, as he moves across the galaxy at twice the speed of light, back into the future, the TARDIS travels time, with his beautiful assistant, and his trusty mate K9... there was significantly more but I don't remember it. If anyone is familar with this song and knows where I could find a copy please say. It's one of the silliest things I've ever found.

Hey! I like the last two. Jon has a very nice voice. As for the Who, while their video is less than appealing, the sound itself is nice!

That he does. I should probable save this for the Inferno discussion, but his singing at the beginning... Apparently he was an Opera singer at some point. I like the KFL song too. It gets stuck in your head. And Jon's rapping is a bit odd but... But did I noticed that you didn't have anything to say about the first link ;D I've never been able to sit through the whole song.

Okay I agree with the first song, and honestly after the first 30 seconds I started jumping ahead hoping for something to grab my attention, but nada! The first I agree is not a good song, but the other two, while probably never going to be classics or top hits, are worthy enough for any DW fan. I personally would die for a copy of Jon's singing. I love it, particularly the emotion and emphasis he puts on specific parts. ;D ;D If you ever find a place I can get a copy of it, I'd so owe you anything. I'd write any fic you asked for.

You know, the title of this thread is 'Please... please never again' which is exactly why I'm not allowed to predict the future or dictate what might happen in it. I've just confronted my inner nerd and bought the Chameleon Circuit album off iTunes.
This stuff is so good. It makes me proud to be a nerd.

Embrace your inner nerd! Or, at the very least, give him/her an encouraging nod or a friendly smile or something. You know, if embracing seems a bit over the top...
They are pretty great, from what I've heard of their stuff. I was thinking the other day, if Moffat wants his new broom to go as far as a revamped theme tune...he could do worse, you know (although personally, I want some sort of strange radiophonic thing with lousy CGI asteroids whirling across the screen, not because it'd be any better, just to stoke my nostalgia! ;D).
Talking of inner nerd, I've caught myself on more than one occasion in the past few weeks sneaking into the DW Live site by myself just to watch the fanvid loop for half an hour or so. They continue to have a hypnotic effect on me...

Ok, I couldn't even make it through 1 minute of the first one.
The KLF one is a little cool, in a nerdy sort of way.
The Pertwee one reminds me of solo albums that William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy did during their Star Trek days in the 60's. You haven't lived until you've heard Shatner talk his way through "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds." Seriously.

Ok, I couldn't even make it through 1 minute of the first one. yeah, I think that may actually win the prize for worst/most embarrassing fandom-derived musical number ever to be created (or it wins the prize for the 80s at least.) The actual music video to it: www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhs2Rwa2hmk&feature=related is even more traumatizing than the slide show... :S The poor actors all look mortified as well. And Colin! He can actually sing! Like really REALLY sing, what the...?

I first saw that Doctor in Distress music video about a year and a half ago. the best way to describe it is this: It was meant to raise money and promote Doctor Who so they wouldn't put it on hiatus for a year and, well it didn't really do either of those things. And Colin Baker does indeed have a nice singing voice. His singing performance in Doctor Who and the Pirates is part of what made me love him during the time period that Six was my favorite.

Arrgh...the horror...the horror...
"Best" bit is maybe Nick Courtney and Anthony Ainley just about managing not to crack up laughing - everybody concerned looks mortally embarrassed, as well they might.
I believe the brains behind this sorry spectacle was Ian Levine, 80s BNF and unofficial fan-consultant to John Nathan-Turner, as well as being one of the various people who rather bafflingly want to be known as the writer of Attack of the Cybermen. I think he went around afterwards claiming to have saved Doctor Who, but to be honest if I had been Michael Grade and seen that, I think it would only have made me more determined to cancel the show. And possibly put those involved out of their miseries.
And yeah, Colin Baker can sing, can't he? Man of hidden depths who never really got a fair crack of the whip due to, well, circumstances.

I was stuck between bursting out laughing at the ridiculousness of it all and being completely brain-damaged mortified. Ack! I'm never watch that again.

Nice one - kind of shuddering here at the idea of six Peris pouting - one ought to be enough for anyone!

Six Peris would be enough to send anyone running straight back out of the TARDIS...yikes!
Ha - love that last one, yes, yes indeed.
