Ok, so I took notes while watching:
The Latin/Celtic thing was funny.
Ha, the family goes running around trying to stop everything from falling down. Very Mary Poppins-like.
"I'm Spartacus." "So am I." Haha.
The thing with the two soothsayers is very interesting. I'm going to have to watch that little part over again because they said some things we hadn't heard before that'll probably be important later on.
Donna's toga dress is really flattering for her body type. They need to start making some dresses like that for middle-aged women, because it really, really shows off that figure nicely.
When the boy and the Doctor are sneaking out, they say: "Don't tell my dad." "Only if you don't tell mine." Is that the first reference to the Doctor's father?
The part where Donna was about to be sacrificed and she was just angry instead of frightened was great. "You might have eyes on the back of your hands, but you're going to have eyes on the back of your head before I'm finished with you!"
The stone people are kind of creepy, especially the high priestess...
A plastic watergun! Man, I love you, Doctor.
Apparently Donna thinks so too. "You fought 'em off? With a water pistol? I bloody love you."
The burden of the Time Lord speech was nice. A lot like Nine's speech about feeling the earth spinning in Rose.
Um, yeah, I'm not sure I'd want to be INSIDE the mountain on the day it blows up. You might want to get out soon, guys...
Go, water gun!
Another lost planet, just like the Adipose one. The series four arc, perhaps?
Choosing between Pompeii and the world. And Donna and the Doctor sitting there crying and knowing they're killing the city...wow.
Ok, yeah. You know what I said about getting out of here, you two? You might want to do that NOW, ok?
Donna forces him to save the family! She's good for him.
Was that really how the word volcano came about? I guess you learn something new every day.
Um, so now the family worships the Doctor and Donna as gods? That's kind of cheesy. I guess RTD hasn't had enough of his Doctor-as-God imagery yet.
And the next time trailer, with the Ood..it looks like the Ood are enslaved and finally can't take take anymore and decide to kill their captors. Just like I thought. Even back in The Impossible Planet, it disturbed me that the people were just using them like that.
And commenting on the episode as a whole, it was AMAZING. I mean, I liked last week's, but this one is so much better than that. The only thing I'm worried about is that the series is starting out on a high note and then will go steadily downhill from there, but even then, we've got this one really great episode.
