what is this spoilery for? Later than Day of the Moon? Or what? ETA: oh, I looked. I don't buy it for a second! I went back and watched the Lodger where they say it's the Silents offscreen but I just don't buy it; it looked to me just like Amy reacting to what the Doctor said through the comms link. Honestly if Moffat had the idea of the Silents down at ANY Point in series 5 I would be really, really surprised. I'm willing to bet that the whole Lodger TARDIS thing is mostly a fortuitous hook that let them re-use a set; ie, "hey if we're gonna re-use it, let's integrate it into the story."
I guess maybe I don't have as much faith that Moffat is being a J Michael Straczinski here. More like, he's leaving hooks back into storylines and deciding what to do with them later. A series 6 setup? Yeah, definitely. Teeny tiny clues left all the way back in series 5? Probably not. Stuff set up during RTD's run? Right out.
If I am wrong, of course, I will be pleasantly surprised.

I've just learned to be liberal with the spoiler warnings on DbyA in the interests of not upsetting anyone. * LOL - very sensible of you! I like these sorts of rumours though, because they hardly ever turn out to be true, but they bring the best out in some fans, the conspiracy theories growing ever more creative. I've done it myself a few times...!
I have a nasty suspicion, having examined them quite a bit, that those figures in the big bang are just shadows cast by the sarcophagi, to be honest. *

Respectfully, Eve, I have to disagree. Normally, I too, have almost zero faith in Moffat, but odd, isn't it that River said in the Library that she'd trust the doctor to the end of the universe, and actually, they'd been. Then in BB, together they were at the end of the universe. I'm not sure I buy all the instances but a few of 'em, sure, I'll bite.

Oh I'm not saying I have zero faith but I think he's being more flexible and malleable than people think. He has the big plot points down and a set of stories in his head he wants to tell but I'm guessing that the small details are fluid. And hey, that's an interesting line! I'll have to check that out Of course in that episode she also asks him if they've done "The crash of the Byzantium" yet. And in TPO she asks if they've done the Bone Meadows and I'll bet those show up in this series...

* FWIW - I watched The Big Bang again, and the...things behind the sarcophagi are definitely real objects, rather than just shadows, but I couldn't tell you what they actually are. They don't look like figures to me, and I couldn't be sure whether they'd moved or whether the camera angle had just shifted between shots. I half suspect they're actually just some weird "sarcophagus prop" used in museums and they're only that shape so you can't see them from the front.
Clocket - you know about museums - what do you think?? *

Here's a spoiler which is relevant to my interests at least:
Beardy!Doc has been spotted around the filming sites for episode 12/13 so maybe we'll actually find out what was going on during those three months?

@clocket Yeah I think that's why his hair was so awful in the Lis Sladen tribute. But my guess is it's going to be another pre-credits crazy montage through time, if the past few two-parters are any indication

**I firmly believe this series kinda started at the end and will work it's way back there. I mean, not on every level, but we did have to different doctors, perhaps now we'll be following eleven-ty? I'm not sure, but I do think the end will solve the beginning and the mid-series cliffhanger may very well be a revisit to this as well. grrrrr. that is all**

* I really wouldn't be surprised, Merry - I think some of the stuff that looks throwaway now is going to turn out to be important later, and some of the stuff that people assumed was important based on the trailers etc is going to turn out to be throwaway. Which is what I assumed with beardy!Eleven - obviously, he attracted a lot of attention when he was seen in the trailer (and not just from Clocket!), but turned out not to be as relevant to the overarching plot as people assumed - or will he? That stuff about him being back for the end of the season is interesting - it does suggest that some of the stuff that didn't make a whole lot of sense in the opening two-parter and that I was putting down to either plot holes or just simple rule of kewl trumping logic might actually be explained later. It's certainly in keeping with the seemingly wilfully mystifying nature of S6 so far. I have to say, I'm liking it! *
