as I've noticed many of us are either struggling to write or struggling to flesh out plot bunnies that are haunting us or struggling to get over the hump in a particular scene (if you are struggling to find time to write I cannae help ye outside a TARDIS and if you have one you had better come pick me up or I shall vilify you in print!) so if you are suffering from anything above (anything not in parenthesis that it) and looking for help, or perhaps just bored, check this out! www.feath.com/idea/idea.htm

Nice site, thanks Merry!
Got anything for someone who can't finish a chapter because she is paralyzed with fright that she is not doing Two justice? If so please send it my way, or you may never get to read the full story!

LL, have you tried Tvtropes.org? They have a really neat section regarding writing Doctor Who, I'll look around and see if I can dig up the link. Failing that, wikiquote for DW works wonders, just google Doctor Who wikiquote then you can read two's quotes, it not only gives you a strong character voice it also helps define the character.
CP, yes, so much! Though our first stop would have to a BBC DW writer's meeting. We won't change our past but it isn't too late to steer our future, yeah? And how could they say no if we stepped out of a TARDIS mid-meeting?

Cool!
I also like the idea of looking up a batch of quotes from whomever it is that you are struggling with the voice of, very good.

Thanks for the link, Merry! As you say, stepping out of a TARDIS into somebody else's meeting is probably a sure-fire showstopper. Unless they called security and you ended up getting captured/escaping/running up and down corridors... ;D I find the quotations thing helps too when it comes to character voices, to sort of get the "feel", or maybe just to get ideas for the kind of things a particular character might be talking about and how they might react to something. Even if it's a character you're very familiar with, sometimes if you haven't seen any of their stories for a while it's helpful to have a bit of a reminder. Obviously, actually watching one of the episodes or even a bit of an episode is even better, but it isn't much help if you don't have access to any of the stories featuring the particular character you're interested in, of courser.

I re-watched "Tomb of the Cybermen" last weekend, for just these reasons. I've also explored quotes. In my case with Two I think it is really just because so few of his stories are available, so I don't feel I have seen enough. I think it is not a total disaster, and I am so close to the end, but I am just stuck. By the time I get this chapter done none of the people who have favorited this story are going to care, and there are still many chapters to go!

*pokes LL sharply* I care, I LOVE this story and I LOVE the idea behind it, I doubt I am the only one. Another thing to try would be read a couple of two's stories on the 'spoon, I, myself, would try to find one with loads of reviews and one with very few (though lack of reviews doesnt necessitate a bad story loads of reviews tend to point toward better ones or at least better networking authors lol) anyway find one you like and one you dislike the way two is portrayed and list why you like one and dislike the other and use that as a character sheet.

That's the worry, LL, losing the audience, but don't worry about that. At the end of the day, who are you writing fanfic for if not yourself? Or is that just my me-centric attitude? ;D But you know, better to take longer over a story you can live with than rush a story and end up with people seeing and reading something you're not happy with. Merry's idea sounds good to me. I don't know if Two is really as hard to write as he has the reputation of being, but you're right about the shortage of reference material. What about the vids on the DW Live channel? I think there are at least a couple on there that have a cross-section of Two "moments" - they might be worth watching a couple of times too.

Thank you for all the great advice guys! I am stressing at work these days, and now the thing that is supposed to reduce my stress is stressing me! If only I had more time to write. It's just so nice to have people who understand what you're going through.
