Last night I thought this thread was to talk about Christmas ... like OUR Christmas... then i read the article and it kind of clicked that thread is about DOCTOR WHO Christmas. Ah... the things I think of when I am super tired
Still.. my "oh" comment was directed to the article and the crazy amazing super original title.

LOLing at johne's reaction! ;D ;D
And agreed with Newton - couldn't it be a bit more enigmatic?
Maybe it's, like, postmodern or something...

*scrunches face* I seriously thought this was revealed or released or what the heck ever term quite a while back. I am perplexed ( I mean when i stumbled across the story yesterday I was thinking my sites had all gone mad because I KNEW the title already and really thought it was 'cos they released it already) I have now decided there is some sort of retroactive time slip type occurring. Yes, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Besides, lacking new episodes we need some sort of temporal crisis, yeah?

Dude, is anyone else as insanely, uncontrollably, obsessively psyched for this Christmas Special, or am I the only one? I don't know why, but every time I see a new pic for this thing I just get really excited. 'Course, the Title isn't very Doctory Who, I agree. To be more traditional Doctor Who, it should really be something like 'THE CHRISTMAS CAROL OF DOOOOOOM!' Heh. = )
But no, I'm still super excited.

Dude, is anyone else as insanely, uncontrollably, obsessively psyched for this Christmas Special Yes. Although I also agree that it ought to have been called Christmas Carol of Doom or Yuletide of Death or something traditional like that. ;D

"I am the Doctor of Christmas Past!" ;D ;D ;D
(okay, so, not going to happen, but if they managed to magically smuggle in Eight I would be VERY happy)
... now, watch the whole episode be about some alien named Carol.

JJ: "Yuletide of Death" You. Are. Awesome. = ) That would be the greatest title ever!
Clocket: If they feature Eight at all, I'll freak out, I really will. And take back anything bad I every said about the new series. (Well, okay, not everything. But some of it... Maybe.) You know, at this point they are going to just doing something silly to appease us, like showing a magazine briefly that has Paul on the cover. = ) Though I would actually think that was cool. Heh.
Oh, no, don't say that, Clocket! Don't jinx it!

The Festivities of Fear...
No, I'm just milking it now... ;D
I think a bit of past-Doctorism is sort of the main thing I'm still holding out for in Who. At first, it was just mentions of the old stuff, and that made me squee when it came. Then there was Sarah Jane, and whatever I thought of the actual story she appeared in, her very presence (and K9!) made me squee more. Then there was stuff like John Smith's diary making the past Doctors NuWho canon, and that made me squee yet more squeefully. Then came actual flashback clips from Old Who, and... Well, you get the picture.
So an honest-to-goodness onscreen appearance by one of the old Doctors would suit me very nicely indeed (that was the famous British understatement just there). And McGann would do just nicely...
That said, Clocket's right - it's probably just an alien called Carol played by someone who used to be in Coronation Street. ;D

I agree, JJ. It seems like the inevitable conclusion that we get an old Doctor cameo, like we've been building up to it this whole time. And while I'd love to see Tom, Colin, or Syl (or all three) a little more, I think Paul is the best choice and the most realistic. Not to mention, that Paul is crazy awesome and he still looks mostly like he did in the movie, so his Doctor would be the logical option.
Though I don't know how they'd handle the fact that Paul said he would never wear that velvet get-up again. = ( And we've all seen his new number. ('Course, I actually like his new outfit. Not as much as the original, but I like it more than everybody else seems too.)

Yeah, I'm still (probably naively) holding out for the multi-era 50th anniversary extravaganza of my dreams in 2013... As for Eight's change of costume, well, they could just ignore it and pretend that the velvet outfit never existed, which is probably cheating really, or some throwaway line about how he used to dress more flamboyantly, or whatever. Or whatever. You can see ways in which they could work around it.

Wow, that may be the most original title for a Christmas special EVER.... No, really guys? C'mon, that's pathetic, I had more faith in the writer's creativity than that. Haven't we already had enough Dickens in, (what was it '05?) with nine?

Yeah, they could easily work around it, I'm sure. Though I would prefer to see him in his velvet get-up, I gotta say. That thing looks awesome. And I'm in the same boat. I've been dying to see what they do for the 50th year anniversary. I keep hoping that it's going to be the best thing in Doctor Who history!!!!... Which is probably going to lead to just a wee bit of disappointment. = ) Just a little bit. Heh.
Agreed. What happened to the old days of Doctor Who when we had titles like 'The Mind of EVILL!' or 'The Seeds of Doooom!' = )

I don't know why, but every time I see a new pic for this thing I just get really excited. I keep forgetting there is a going to be a chritmas special. I discovered other classic British TV to keep me busy until Chritmas ... oh that and school.

Ahem. Thoughts? Theories? Or are you all just as confused as me?
