So, I'm working on my Amy and Eleven story (but actually typing now so nearly done now in spite of my having switched the companions up a bit) and I stumped myself. So I've a question but it's spoilerific for TPO n TBB so I'm whiting it out
**Is a multiDoc even possible post-TBB? I mean aren't they technically in two different universes now? Or does that not work somehow due to the TARDIS exploding everywhere at once, or Amy having pulled him into the new universe? I know I asked something similar in the thread for the episode itself, but as this is plot related (ack therefore seems right now to be crucial (insert ironic tone)) I figured a different thread was okay, if not eeeeeep! sorry**

* It'd better still be possible to have multi-Doctors. I want my 50th Anniversary story, dammit! And so does David Tennant! And I'll be having words with a certain curly-headed Scottish television writer/producer if he thinks different...
Grrr...
Ahem, but I'd go along with johne. My take is that the old Whoniverse...well, it doesn't exist anymore, even as an Infernoverse-type parallel. Fortunately, the new Whoniverse created by Eleven (does this now make Eleven and Amy some sort of joint godhead?! ) is exactly the same as the old one...except where Moffat chooses to make it different in future stories (or indeed where you and I choose to make it different in future fanfic! ;D). So, when Amy "remembered" Eleven back into existence, she wasn't just bringing Eleven back, she was bringing back the whole idea of the Doctor; there can be no Eleven without Ten, no Ten without Nine, no Nine without Eight etc etc etc etc etc. As for whether this should be possible or not, well, Amy is "special", whole universe pouring into her head, timey wimey, yadda yadda, blah blah *waves hands vigorously*. You know, on the sliding scale of SF "hardness", this story wasn't exactly Arthur C Clarke... ;D
So, I would assume that, unless told otherwise (and I don't think Moffat would really be that stupid), all ten previous Doctors still existed in the reboot universe, as did all of their adventures. I mean, SJA still exists, and will feature a guest appearance by this season, so I think that backs it up. And any other state of affairs would, I admit, make me Very Sad...
Grrr....
Gotta stop doing that growling thing... *

Careful, JJ, your hand might get REALLY tired with all that waving....
I do agree with you and johne, though.

Yes, the energy generated by my handwaving is currently providing heat and light for several small villages...

Yes, but Journey's End powered the entire Greater London area for at least six months... ;D

It hasn't just been NuWho that has been a benefit to the world in this manner, however. The people of Ecuador still celebrate National Eric Saward Day, commemorating how, twenty-six years ago, Resurrection of the Daleks made their nation energy-sufficient for the foreseeable future.
I believe Attack of the Cybermen did something similar for the inhabitants of Mauretania, but in that case it's still hotly disputed as to who they should actually name the day after... ;D

Haven't they decided it's the official Ian Levine day? I was sure I heard it somewhere...
Mind you, Pip-and-Jane day is celebrated EVERY year since the end of Trial of a Timelord in most of central Asia.

I think they compromised on National Ian Levine or Eric Saward or Eric Saward's ex-Girlfriend or Possibly the Temp Day. It's a bit difficult to fit that on the commemorative stamps mind you, so I wouldn't be surprised if they'd shortened it.
It's why it's so vital that we find as many of those lost Two stories as we can; scientists can't be sure, but there might be vital reserves of handwaving there that could go a long way towards helping with the impending world energy crisis...
You know, this was a perfectly sensible thread back when Merry started it... ;D

What, what, WHAT? ... are you all talking about?
If handwaving powers whole countries, then why have we got so many power stations, when clearly all we need is to hook up some sort of generator to the Queen?
And, talking of power stations and so on, I heard, although it may not be true, that Rhodes and Crete are still entirely powered by The Hand of Fear and The Claws of Axos, and in honour of Bob'n'Dave have blown up several reactors in mainland Greece. (Luckily they had an energy-absorbing creature with godlike powers to hand when they tried, so all is well. Even if they hadn't, they all put their fingers in their ears and sticky tape on the windows, and said goodbye to their children first).
Don't you just love Doctor Who? And I mean all of it?
Oh, and NASA are going to make sure any future lunar stations come fully equipped with handy tea trays for emergency repairs. ;D
And on Fiji, where they follow the Path of David Whitaker, they've never been able to quite work out the difference between radiation and electricity, but luckily everything there is powered by mirrors, with assisted hand-waving from The Edge of Destruction.
*cough* Um, what was this thread originally about, people?

You know, this was a perfectly sensible thread back when Merry started it... ;D Somehow I highly doubt it. ;D And if so, why? I rely on DbyA for nonsense, sparking off of insane plot bunnies etc etc. And for where I come when I find unexpected cake fic and the like on the 'Spoon.

What, what, WHAT? ... are you all talking about? An excellent question... ;D * Well, Merry very sensibly asked whether past Doctors and their adventures still exist in the rebooted post-Big Bang Whoniverse (I'm a firm "they better had, Moffat!" on that particular issue). So we naturally started some silly business about handwaving powering countries...er...as you do...* I hear that some countries are trying to develop processes to enable them to use reruns of Star Trek TOS in power stations originally built for Doctor Who. This is a bad move, as although TOS does indeed contain plentiful handwaving it's of a much lower grade and does cause significant pollution. Always go for quality not quantity when it comes to handwaving!

Sensible threads are SO last year.
Also, I think I finally realised why the world needs more Torchwood. I think that would put an end to any talks about energy crisis. And it's very eco-friendly. I mean, if Doctor Who > Star Trek....

*blinks*
I'm surprised no one has mentioned Eight's Movie yet. It powers several small islands in the South Pacific. Of course, there's no official holiday for it since no one's quite sure who's responsible. Also, there is the dicey legality of it since those islands are tapping the hand-wavy power under the table and don't want to draw attention to the fact.
Fox, you see, wants to hoard the power for their own nefarious purposes. Apparently they were trying to tap into the Torchwood reserves as well briefly, but that plan was thankfully scuttled. who knows what madness might have ensued otherwise.

And now it's a global conspiracy! JJ...? Typical! Someone mentions a global conspiracy and everyone assumes it's me! ;D Yes, I hear those bad corporate types have now shut down the Eight-powered stations in Samoa and Fiji, which is pretty harsh of them considering. Those poor people are going to have to get by on Eight audios if someone doesn't do something quick. Luckily, they had spare stashes of EDA novels in the hospitals to provide auxiliary power for life support machines etc. but that can only be a temporary measure. There's a campaign on livejournal to get people to buy DVDs of The End of Time and send them there quickly before people's lights start going out. A fruitful area of research that I've read about is efforts to develop processes to extract what would in the past have been uneconomical amounts of handwaving from otherwise well-plotted sources. Apparently, French scientists have succeeded in generating respectable amounts of power from repeatedly watching just that scene with the sketch-artist guy in City of Death.

Have they managed yet to extract hand-wave energy from DW stories which might have been?

You betcha! For a long time it was thought impossible, but earlier this year Big Finish cracked that equation and has since been generating a whole new crop of hand-wavy with their Six and Jamie stories.
