Right, so if anyone remembers way back to when i first joined (almost two years ago now) I was very technologically behind, this was my fanboard type experience. I'm still technologically behind (ask anyone who I have tried to help with DWlive) but I have now learned the dark side of these little pockets of DW communities on the web.
From time to time many of you have mentioned these crazed fangurlz who spell nothing correctly, have no sense of grammar, and perhaps no sense of taste as well. I always thought you were exaggerating, DbA led me to believe DWfans are an educated thoughtful rational lot. This is NOT the case. DbA has spoiled me. I accidentally wandered into of these OMG communities today and realised precisely how special DbA is.
Thanks, all of you, for being the kind of people I always assumed DW fans were, thoughtful, insightful and kind. Thanks DbA for having a brain and for being here to save us from the ravages of those OTHER communities *shudders* I may never venture off these boards again.

Lol! I feel the same way. Just to add to that, though, I love this board because it's filled with people who recognize that Christopher Eccleston was not the first Doctor, and RTD is not the sole creator of Doctor Who. Its tiring to be talking of old companions and everyone goes, huh? There's been more than three? >.<

It's the only DW forum I've dared really participate in. I wouldn't even come on here when Clocket first mentioned, scarred as I was from 1990s radw wars.
However, when I learned there was cake fic, I had to be brave, and, lo, it was kind and fun - that's nice.

This is indeed a special place - I can't really imagine actively participating in any of those other places, for all of the reasons others have identified. What I like about this place is that we know we don't all share the same tastes when it comes to DW, but nobody's trying to convert anybody or stamp on anybody else's preferences. We seem to be able to maintain a sense of perspective and a sense of humour about these things, and agree to disagree when necessary. Without wanting to gush, I'm so glad I found this place when I did. Really.
