As I've said, often enough to start being boring, I have this fic reccing sites. I've been going through all the Teaspoon stories Doctor by Doctor to find stuff. (And, yes, all right, I don't know what I'll do about that when I get to Ten, but hey.) Not reading it all, obviously, just looking and reading promising things. (That - in the case of historicals - either turn out to be a)not historical b) WIPs, long abandoned, or c) really badly formatted / written. It's heart-breaking. The crossovers are much easier.)
I just made it through Two's 318 stories. And until recent pages when names like Primsong, Johne and so on surfaced, the overwhelming slash and shippiness of it has left me... Oh my goodness.
Brain bleach, please! If it's not Jamie/Doctor, it's Jamie/Doctor/Zoe, Jamie/Ben, Doctor/Victoria... I mean, each to their own ship, but there's an innocence to Two's adventures that graphic TARDIS sex scenes don't mesh well with. (I didn't read them, I hasten to add, but I don't need more than a one-line description to set my imagination going. And I didn't want it to go to any of those places.)
(If Three's full of Brigadier/Benton ones, you may never see me again...)
And, please, more Two-fic is needed. The quality of One fic is pretty high. With historicals, Ian/Barbara and many drabbles. Two = drabbles and slash.
So, whoever it was had it last - and I know I saw somebody with it yesterday - pass it over here, please!

Thank you, Library Lover! I'm almost recovered anyway, as I started on Three and there's much more a mixture of fic, including some gems I'd missed till now (although barely a crossover or historical in sight. I found a Regency fic with Ten and Rose and Three and Jo & got my hopes up... and it was adult rated. I went off to sulk.). So, Two-fic backlist is scary, scary, but Three-fic is a pleasant surprise. Oh, and, look, The Doctor and Jo investigate fixed voting at the 2005 Eurovison Song Contest. If you're British, you'll understand why I grinned: www.whofic.com/viewstory.php?sid=2744

And, please, more Two-fic is needed. Duly noted Though anything I wrote would almost certainly be either (a) AU, (b) set after The War Games, or (c) Outside. It's something to do with the characters' future not being set in stone.

(If Three's full of Brigadier/Benton ones, you may never see me again...) Funny you should say that, actually... (whited out for the protection of the vulnerable) Well, I don't know how much there is really, but I read a really funny one once where * the Brig's false 'tache came off and got stuck to Benton's face. Funnier than it sounds. Can't really imagine the Brig canoodling with the other ranks, though. Yatesy, maybe, as a brother officer and all, but... * Mine's a double, landlord!

Heh. Yes, Clocket recced that on Calufrax, though I did not read it even so! Brigadier!slash - I just can't go there. (Sorry.) But, no, Three fic was a relative peaceful stroll through a variety of fics and shippiness/slash etc was balanced out. Ironically, I found more crosses and historicals in Two. I found... uh... one (aside from a couple already noted). My four fic venturing got halted by having to stop and read the cake fic there.

I feel like a returning brave explorer!
Yes, I have now worked my way through the Four fic on Teaspoon. Again, not very disturbing taken as a whole. I am a little worried by the fact that there's more than one person who would write Four/Adric slash (because, um, isn't that sort of child abuse, frankly?) but other than that, the only other thing that strikes me is a shameful lack of Romana I.
There was a slight increase in more recent stories, but there were only about 5 out of around 700+ to feature her. I know Romana II is wonderful and, of course, has lots of post-Doctor potential, but there you go - another ficcy need right there.
Oh, and I found lots of splendid crosses and even one or two historicals.

Got to say, Doctor/Adric is one of them ships that I just REALLY don't understand, but whatever floats your boat I guess... still... *shudders* That's near as bad as Ten/Jenny in my opinion. Some things just ought not be! Because, um, NO!
And I agree about the sad lack of Romana I stories. Though that one, Threads, by Vali, is kind of magnificent. Personally I find Fred the First rather hard to write, and I think that's because she had a more complex character which was flattened more than a bit in her second incarnation. It's also harder to figure out where to fit the story in. I mean, she only had that one season and it was pretty well defined what they were doing in it.
So either you can have her on Gallifrey prior to meeting the Doctor, you can have missing scenes stuck in between The Great McGuffin Quest, or you can make up an explanation for why she so randomly chooses to regenerate into Romana II.
Though, I guess yo could shove a random randomizer adventure in between seasons. Hmmm...
(as a side note, I don't think your avatar is working lost_spook)

"Threads" is great fic; the kind of fic you read and wish you could have thought of yourself. I really like it, especially its pretty scathing and cynical view of corrupt, hypocritical Gallifreyan society and how Romana, like the Doctor, is quite frankly too good for it. Yes, I loves me a bit of Gallifrey-bashing! And it features LOOMS! quite apart from being beautifully written. But yes, there isn't that much Romana I about is there (says I, someone who is probably part of the problem rather than part of the solution!)?
Inter-season Romana I fic with some attempt at explaining just what the heck was going on at the start of Destiny of the Daleks might be the most profitable way to go. I'm sure there are a couple of possible gaps between the Key to TIme stories - they don't all run into one another do they?
And yes, Four/Adric is fairly high up on my list of things that Should Not Be, right after Seven/Ace, to be honest.

Yes, I'm afraid Four/Adric definitely has me reaching for the brain bleach.
I now have a request list for fic that I'm doing absolutely nothing to fulfil myself:
1. More One and Two generally 2. More Two genfic 3. Three needs a historical fic. I think he should take Jo back to the 1930s and have fun. Or something. 4. Romana I needs a little bit of love. (no, stop, I didn't mean disturbing, graphic... *applies brainbleach*)
And anything decently written that counts as even a little bit history-related would be nice.
So far Five fic is proving fairly equal-opportunity when it comes to ships (the big ships being Five/Tegan, Five/Turlough and Tegan/Nyssa, which really is about as equal opportunity as it gets.)
And, yeah, I'm not sure what happened with the icon. I'm trying Liz out now.

Ohhh... I just found the first fic I started reading on Teaspoon that I have never been able to find again, despite looking. This trawling was not a bad idea.
*dies happy*
*spectre of spook pauses* Drat, that was not well thought out. Now I still don't know how it ends.

Clocket, can't you see when lostspook is trying to do you a favour? ;D
From some of the descriptions I see on the Teaspoon, I can't begin to imagine what the worst of them might be like...and I'm kind of glad about that...

I know, but it's sort of like "don't think about the pink elephant" yes? (also, I do all of this in the firm faith that lost_spook will never actually reveal these things, for I too am shocked and scarred by some of the stuff that shows up in 'spoon descriptions )

I nearly said something mean about certain types of fanfic, but that goes against my principles as a fandom-is-a-broad-church, live-and-let-live, whatever-turns-you-on kind of guy.
But...yeah...
