Journey’s End. With the Daleks defeated, a Meta-Crisis Doctor created and the universe saved, the future looked brilliant. The insane Dalek Caan was right, though. Donna Noble, the greatest woman in creation, died. All of her memories had to be locked away to save her from the intensity of Time Lord information overrunning her human brain. It may have been heartbreaking for the Doctor, but at least she was safe. Working with Sarah Jane and Torchwood to help drag Earth back to its rightful position, everything seemed so happy. So positive. Until Gwen mentioned that Earth was going to be saved in a different way – under the influence of one Mr Harold Saxon. Only the Doctor, Jack Harkness and Martha Jones remember the Year That Never Was. They saw the horrors that the Master subjected humanity to, but they also watched him die. The Doctor even burned his body at the end of the universe! Unfortunately, their worst fears have come true, despite how impossible it seems. Harold Saxon has now been named Earth’s President-for-life. Fast forward. Not believing Jack’s rants about Saxon, Gwen Cooper is a go-between for Torchwood and Saxon’s government. Nothing untoward is happening, either. Torchwood keeps clearing up problems at Cardiff’s Rift, and the Doctor travels with both Rose and the Meta-Crisis Doctor in tow, waiting to see what the Master will do next. They won’t have to wait too long…
