Someone has entitlement issues. The general attitude of puzzlement from the comments was slightly amusing, though.

I think - I hope! - that that was supposed to be humorous; and as far as it goes, I sort of agree with the nutter; except about Tennant being "possibly the best Doctor ever", because that's obviously crazy talk! (Sylv, the Trout and Tommy B will always reign supreme for me!)
Seriously, if Tennant was leaving anyway at the end of this year, I can't see the point of the whole year out thing (I guess it's something we'll only learn the truth of in 20 years time or so, in people's autobiographies). Gender-bending Sea Devils? I could go for that...
I worry, I really worry, in the sort of powerless-but-obsessive way I worry about far-Right parties getting good results in the UK council elections and the chronically-bad finances of Liverpool Football Club, that this whole missing-year thing might seriously damage Who's momentum. Already, I've seen numerous people online saying that the hiatus has made them tone down their fandom etc. Because, as much as I may snipe at RTD, I like living in a time when Doctor Who is popular and cool again in a way it hasn't been since the 70s, dammit!

It was probably the wait that killed me, Jjpor, now that I think about it. I mean, going for months without anything to watch on real-time television. (You can only have so much patience with you-tube after all. If it's your ONLY means of getting unwatched Who, it gives one a migraine.) It's not like he's SUDDENLY leaving. I mean, he's been around since 2005, right? He's put his four (three) years in, and that's more than some doctors have done. Hanging around as long as Tom did would have been impossible for him because their situations were completely different. I mean, Tennant is young, upbeat, fairly attractive and he could probably find work doing films or other television shows. He has open doors that Tom didn't really have. That said, I LOVE Ten. Even if he is a sod.

Oh yeah, I think if you're counting up hours onscreen, Tennant has probably been a longer serving Doctor by now than either McCoy or Colin Baker. I just think that if he was taking a year out and then leaving anyway, he could have just gone last year and they could have done another full season this year with a different actor. Which suggests to me that there's some backstory to Tennant leaving that we don't know yet. Yes, though, he's had a good innings and, God help me, I'll miss him when he's gone, the big grinning idiot...

I'll miss him too. But it wouldn't amaze me if he came back in the future for some doctor-collab specials now and then. I mean, he's young enough. He probably has a few years left on him.
So I can presume there'll be a site-wide "en memoriam" party then; when it DOES happen?

HAHAHAHAHAH DAVID TENNANT DOING MOVIES HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA David Tennant has some talent but he will NEVER be a movie star. At least not Hollywood and the few British movies we get in Canada. He will always be a theater and TV actor. With roles of crazy, insane people, i want to kill you roles or roles similar to Ten. Look at Casanova, so much Ten. He can pull off the odd middle ages role too seeing that he does alot of Shakespeare. Watch Learners, you will think again about his acting. www.youtube.com/watch?v=UxjwR7dKiw8Part one if anyone is interested.

Am I the only one who finds Tom more attractive than Tennant?? More attractive? In a word, no. However, I do find Tom attractive. He has great cheekbones and eyes.

I merely said that the odds of him appearing in one or two films are good given his status. He may not STAR in anything, but... well he's already been in AT LEAST one. (Harry Potter: Goblet of Fire) I mean, he's bound to appear in SOMETHING like that again.

You make a very good point.
I mean he's only glamorously famous in certain circles. He's like... a specialized knowledge. Kind of like the Isle De Murta. "It's an Island that can't be found except by those who already know where it is."

Early in his career DT starred in a film called "L.A. Without a Map" and he had a couple of scenes with Johnny Depp. DT has done a number of good things, but I agree he isn't a household name outside of the UK, except mainly with Doctor Who fans.

Yeah. I certainly had never heard of him before he became the doctor. He may gain more fame as time progresses. Who knows?

Aren't they like... actors of opposing values? Depp has this image as a dark, suave and slighly quirky gentleman, while Tennant is this skinny beanpole of a guy that's high-strung and enthusiastic about everything. It's like... in the lion king. It's like Scar and the Hyenas.

It's funny you say that! Early in his career DT starred in a film called "L.A. Without a Map" and he had a couple of scenes with Johnny Depp. I now have a pressing need to find this film and fangirl over it. do watch it. DT has some weird landlord/friend/coworker guy who really made the movie fun. The way he talks may annoy you though. I liked how Johnny Depp. did not want to be credited in the movie. Johnny Depp found out about the movie being made and how the main guy loves him, so Johnny Depp. was like "hey! I will be in the movie!!!". So the Internet rumors go. Also, I think one of the reasons why DT left is be because he thinks he is going to make it big. You know, there is always one actor in a popular TV show who thinks they will do great in movies but they fail. That will be DT. Yet, DT claims to have been given a offer to do another scifi thing which he is not allowed to talk about. *shrugs* I doubt we will see him much after DW.
