Since there has been posts about Rose and Martha, I thought it only fair there should be one about Donna. She will, after all, be the Doctor's newest companion starting this upcoming series. I, for one, am excited. I have been a fan of both Rose and Martha, but Donna will be something new *crosses fingers behind back* She won't be sucking up to the Doctor and won't be a love interest (shippers and non-shippers should like that). I truly enjoyed her in the Runaway Bride. She the slap in the face the Doctor needed to get back into action after Rose left. I'll be excited to see what will lead her to join him and how the dynamic of the TARDIS environment will be impacted by her willing or unwilling presence. What does everyone else think? Any hopes for the next series?

I'm really excited to see her in the Tardis. She's the oldest companion in the history of the show, if I'm remembering right (besides Romana of course), so it'll be interesting to see how that plays out. And the fact that she won't be a love interest is a big relief to me.

I dunno... how old was Barbara? Course that's going back... How old is Donna again?
And then there are the male companions, some of them were a bit older...
And I think there's a senoir companion in the audios (but that's not really onscreen is it?)
Anyway.
Also VERY relieved that Donna isn't going to be a love interest. And I hope she keeps slapping him. 'cause that's just fun.

Careful....then she could become another Jackie! Then we might just be back in the loop of romance and emo again. *shivers fearfully* I'd rather she just be the more anti-companion she was played out to be. Someone who'll stand by him, keep him focused, not fall in love with him (at least not the romantic sense), and encourage him to stop being so emo all the time. He's at least 900 years old and he needs to start getting on with his life. Let Tennant and those who follow be the fun loving, brilliant, slightly egoistic and all around heroic defender we all know and love. As for oldest companion... that's debatable, particularly if you take into account of audio companions. But she's up there definitely (of course some people do count Jackie as a companion) Let's not get into that now. I don't want to start that debate. I dunno... how old was Barbara? Course that's going back... How old is Donna again? And then there are the male companions, some of them were a bit older... And I think there's a senoir companion in the audios (but that's not really onscreen is it?) Anyway. Also VERY relieved that Donna isn't going to be a love interest. Yes! Nine pulled off the emo, some people can, but Tennant can't, and besides, that's NOT what the Doctor is about.
Yeah for a future of *fingers crossed* non-emo, non-melodramatic, non-smouchy and lust-ridden DW.

Warning, SPOILERS below! Highlight to view. Ack! The trailer! For Series 4! Whyyyyyyyyyyyy? Seriously, I can see no logical reason why the Doctor and Donna would snog, other than that Rusty is an idiot. Or It's All Eight's Fault.

Or It's All Eight's Fault.I agree 100 % Spoiler speculation/ranting below: I'm sure that it's just another "genetic transfer" but it disappoints me that we have to go there, again. There's only so many times that gimmick can be used before it's just an excuse for a companion to snog the Doctor.
I had so much hope for Donna, as she was the companion who seemed to have the least chance of becoming romantically involved with him. However, the "mate" comment cheers me up a little. RTD is still going to play around with a snogging Doctor, but at least Donna doesn't appear to be in love with him.

Spoilers, et cetera, et cetera: Well, Rusty needs to stop with the romance and give his job to Steven Moffat. He'd better have a bloody good excuse for Donna, as I have such high hopes for her.

Perhaps I'm just in denial, but Donna does NOT become romantically involved with the Doctor, and any words to the contrary will mysteriously fall short of my ears.

I've been watching and loving DW since the 4th and Donna's my all-time fave companion ... ever! *beams* She's so good for him and has done wonders for his character.

yeah I agree..she's improved his character where I found Rose made him a little selfish (A teenage POV maybe..lets hope she's grown up since they last met)...Donna has made him care and find his capacity for 'mercy' again and allowed him to mature.

He's definately 'grown up' since he's been with donna...with the other companions he was more inclined to be 'childish' but she keeps him in line

Welcome Flo! I'm also in love with Donna. She jumped onto my favourite companions short-list shortly after series four began and has been creeping steadily towards the top ever since. This may have something to do with the fact that is really Romana, which will be revealled shortly.
