They should make the Eleventh Doctor really old or ugly. But it'd kill all the new fans and Doctor Who would go on hiatus/die again. Number 11 will be played by a Welsh actor named Michael Sheen - we may even see him as early as next week. Sorry about the (potential) spoiler ; )

Hi Lord13. Can I ask where you obtained this info from that Michael Sheen is going to be the next Doctor?
I am intrigued!

Wow, didn't think there'd be another Doctor this soon! According to Wikipedia: 'In February, The Sun reported that Sheen was in the running to play The Master in the BBC science fiction series, Doctor Who.[3] This may stem from a confused eyewitness who saw Doctor Who producer Julie Gardner speaking with Sheen after a West End performance of Frost/Nixon; Gardner told Doctor Who Magazine that she was at school with Sheen, and was not discussing Doctor Who with him.[4]' Nothing about being the Doctor, though.

Ah, The Sun. That newspaper is notorious for being inaccurate, so if that says such-and-such, I tend not to believe it.

I would hazard a guess that this rumour about Michael Sheen is pure fantasy and, as The Thinker quite rightly states above, that the Sun newspaper is usually completely, 1000% inaccurate when it comes to reporting facts!
As far as I'm aware DT carries on piloting the Tardis throughout Season 4 next year and then..... well, it's anyone's guess!

Given Ten's physical state at the end of The Sound of Drums I think a regeneration is likely - and let's be honest, when you've had actors of the calibre of Derek Jacobi and John Simm doing more acting in five minutes then in Tennant's entire tenure as the Doctor it won't come a moment to soon.
Disclaimer: I don't dislike the fact that DT is younger, thinner and better looking than me - I just dislike the fact he's based his Doctor on Tony Robinson narrating Fat Tulip's Garden.

I remember Tom Baker as the baddie in Sinbad a couple of years before he became the Doctor - which is why I didn't like him in Robot but by the time of The Ark in Space I was a committed fan! I recently bought Robot on DVD, and I think it's excellent considering I'd not seen it since I was five years old! Tom Baker was brilliant in it, and the Robot itself was one of those tragic baddies I miss (like Omega in the Three Doctors) - ah if only the Slitheen could aspire to such ontological chaos!

I'm hoping they keep 10 around a little bit longer. He was great until he started getting depressed about Rose. Besides, if they keep burning through regenerations at the rate they are going, we'll be up to 13 before next summer.

I agree with Tjalys, 10 has left many things open that should close... in my opinion.

Isn't this thread about Martha? I ask because it sounds as if its gone off topic.
