I think we should at least try it out here. If it gets overcrowded, the topic can always be moved into a password locked forum. Possibly a silly question, but would contents of a forum that was locked for members only (you can do that, right?) also show up in the 50 most recent posts? I have had cases where I check out a board while a guest and didn't see the "relationship" board. when I joined I got to see the board since it was members only. So I would see all topics from that board while logged on in the 50 past post. I could not see password locked boards. I had written out a nice argument on why it should be password locked. I even was willing to give up my white out spoiler agreement. I deiced I am not going to fight this. I know I am not going to win since I am being out voted. HOWEVER I want to say this. I hope this doesn't become a RPG forum. ... I guess I can not fully get away from RPG. *sigh*

this will NEVER be an RPG forum. People might Rpg away in one section if they wish, but I at least will always be around to make zany comments, scathing reviews, and random observations elsewhere.
Because that is what I do.
Anyway, if things get crazy and the RPG starts taking over I'll either passwork lock it or move it to another forum. There's nothing to worry about really.

It's not forum style. It's a single thread of which the purpos is to tell a story. Rather than post just to post you post if you think you're character should say something, like adding to a story more so than roleplaying.

Yes but if everyone gets into the RPG and I end up only seeing RPG posts then the board slowly becomes a RPG board. Ok so maybe not 100% like real RPG boards, but I do not want the RPG to start being the centre of attention.

Don't worry, I think it would require a forum with a whole lot of people really into RPGing to turn a forum into an RPG forum. I really only RPG when it's like writing a story because it's more fun that way. I was rereading the story on that Lord of the Rings site and I realized I really wasn't there like at all at the beginning (although I think I'm around a bit more toward the end ) and I realize why now, I think I was in another RPG at the time, one of those where people post little tiny posts every two minutes and expect you to respond thankfully that one eventually died out.

I'm so sorry if we've inadvertantly introduced something controversial here. :-(
We've no intentions of introducing others, we just hoped to finish writing this one fanfic. I'm not much of an RPG person either - this is only the second one I've ever been a part of at all - so I understand your worry. I don't see the hyper-teenage-soap-opera variety of personality here that tends to overwhelm a forum with random rpgs, so I doubt it will be any kind of ongoing problem simply because the type of people here don't match that profile.

*nudges all* there is a perfectly nice empty who related rpg forum run by a DbA-er, if you lot like, it can be set for anything you like as it's well-beyond dead at the moment...
that way here can stay, well, itself, which we all adore *huggles DbA board*

I trust Clocket to guard us from the danger of this becoming an RPG board, with her watchful eye, iron fist, etc... I'm just glad she's on our side, is all I'm saying. That said, I think for the sake of everyone who isn't participating, it would be nice if it could be kept out of the 50 last posts; I have no idea whether or not this is possible, for my technical knowledge of this sort of thing might best be described as scanty

I can see the sense in not having the posts on the most recent posts, and I definitely see the sense in this being a kind of one time thing since it seems a lot of us aren't all that into RPGing. Those that are can probably find plenty of forums for it.
But I also don't see much sense in trying to move it to yet another forum. Unless you guys all like the idea, I'm good with just going along with whatever you guys think is best since I'm very new here.

Sooo... Clocket, would you like the first portion here at LINDA, then? Do we start a thread and you'll take care of modifying it as needed?

I'm slightly confused at what's going on at the moment. I think that you should just start posting your RPG interaction (probably in a new thread in LINDA because this threads got a bit long) and I'll join in as soon as I figure out where the story's at.

I've decided I'll take Harry if that's all right, since I've disposed of all the rest of the characters I had that I wasn't doing anything with.
Are we starting then? Should I go post?

And if no one else is taking her, may I be Donna as well?
Also, since neither of my characters have been in the story prior, do their TARDISes just suddenly materialize in the area?

I am not a RPG person. I am not good at capturing an character. If I were to take a character I would take Six and be all "GRR GRR *grumpy grumpy*. I don't like you, *grumpy grumpy*.
That is all I would do with six. Complain and tell everyone why I hate them.

If you have a companion who goes with a doctor who is already there they have been just kind of popping out of TARDISes that are already there, like when I bring in Harry he's probably just going to come out of Four's TARDIS and be wondering where he is

The concept being that whenever something is done to this meteorite it makes another one show up provides us with a chance to introduce another Master (Ainley, perhaps?) when Jamie hooks it up in the lab.
Evelyn's college schedule has snowed her under and she says she doesn't think she'll be able to take him as she'd originally asked:
would anyone like to pick up Ainley!Master?
Wherever he shows up is up to the writer aside from it being somewhere in or around UNIT's HQ, due to proximity to the meteorite.
General locale updates:
Delgado!Master's TARDIS is back at the quarry, where One and his team plus Donna are. One, Two, Five, Six, Seven and Ten's TARDIS' are also there.
Four & Eight's TARDIS' are in UNIT's carpark, Three's is in his lab. Nine's is still at (the remains of) the barn, but Nine could ask for the helicopter to go back and fetch it to UNIT if he likes.
Bessie is parked outside the walls of HQ while they decide if it is safe/helpful to enter. Bessie's passenger load = Three, Nine and Five with Delgado!Master in the boot. Benton, Nyssa, Victoria, Ace, Jo and Zoe round it off, it's amazing the little car made it this far with no one falling out. ;-)

okies, well, I admit I haven't read the discussion thread, in fact, until it occurred to me to do more than just look at the most recent post in each forum, I thought perhaps this discussion thread was a shared hallucination. I have, however, read most of the backstory (promise to finish reading it before I jump in). I cannot help but notice that a few of my favourite characters are open. or, rather, appear to be so. Is the sixth Doctor, in fact, open? if so, I will take him, poor bloke gets no love, and somehow Aldy forced me into liking him by default. And it stuck, it took root, in fact, and I may have to redo my siggie. If he isn't, ah, such is life. No, worries, mate.
Also, I couldn't help but see Simm's Master was open, ooooh, I could do that and well, I have in fact, on my DW rpg site that is dead-dead-deadski. I've eight cups of crazy in my head, for sure.
Lastly, I wouldn't mind being Tegan, were she open as well, it appears she is, but I learned well from "Labyrinth" where anything is possible and nothing is as it seems. Also, looking at the characters I have picked, one may think I am mean or mouthy, I am seeing, but I'm really not, honest!
